“Wine firms here in the U.S. thought that a tariff on (imported) goods, including wine from Canada, would be a boon, but it has turned out the other way around,” Gotta love it 😊

Bravo! But also, shame on those of you who purchased wine making up the $3 million.

Also, to hell with grocery stores for continuing to feature American produce in their flyer and stores.

LOVE IT.

Hopefully, it gets down to zero.

Trump don't care. Wine producing states tend to be blue.

Time for some wine from Ontario and BC!

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 18 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Do not give ford money, stick with BC. ford is still trying to sell us out to the us. Fucking conservative traitors.

[–] TediousLength@lemmy.ca 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

This kind of radical thinking is counterproductive. Canadians should support all Canadians no matter the province or local government's ideology. Refusing to do business with someone only because or their government is only going to hurt the people... Hurt local businesses, which gives the opportunity for big corporations to take over the local markets.

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, fuck that. Only thing I've bought since ford got in is food, and it will stay that way.

[–] TediousLength@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 hours ago

Well if you're happy, I'm happy. To each their own! 🇨🇦 That's what democracy, and free choice is all about.

[–] IrateAnteater@sh.itjust.works 5 points 18 hours ago

There's no government run wineries. Buying from Ontario isn't "giving Ford money".

Smith and Moe said “fuck it we want to get wasted” and stopped the boycotts in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Well I do not know about Smith but I am sure Moe was feeling the pain of having empty shelves at his local liquor store

[–] riskable@programming.dev 14 points 18 hours ago

To be fair, all that industry does is wine!

[–] mintiefresh@piefed.social 16 points 19 hours ago

Keep going!

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 16 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Now that is a real boycott!

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 3 points 13 hours ago

If only everyone took it seriously and we could get it down to 0%, I am sure the number will be even lower in the next publishing period but Saskatchewan and Alberta fucked up and let their stores to order the booze from the US and they hopefully ordered it expecting more demand which never appears.

No need for tariffs if you're not buying anything 👉😏

I'm sad to see trade relations between our countries dissolve, I grew up with nafta being a brimming and proud achievement of cooperation. I really hope that we in America codify and cement future protections for our trading partners, ya'll deserve better than working with our diaper Don.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 11 points 15 hours ago

Most Canadians were opposed to nafta as it has eroded local industries however thanks to first-past-the-post the conservatives were given a false majority and pushed through with it anyways.

[–] Texas_Hangover@sh.itjust.works 3 points 13 hours ago

NAFTA is a steaming pile of shit.

Wine? You guys mean the new adult soda from petzi? Drungakola! You'll be so drung you won't even know if its the 4th of July or if you need 4 Julies or something like that. 4th? Who said that?

Anyway, sounds like we'll have to use wine to clean dishes, toilet bowl and windows. Or maybe they will just age it or give it to the fish via the drain...long marinating strategy...I mean, that's a lot of wine, it has to go somewhere!
