My parents planted a tree for each of their kids, so I know where my tree twin is!

That's a lovely thing to do!

it was in the amazon and and got razed to make space for a cattle ranch years ago.

This would explain why I'm stuck in limbo, partially phased out, in a would that has no plan for me.

My first Christmas tree was a live one which was planted.

It's dead now.

Be my luck.

A nice thought but mine has probably been slash & burned to make grazing land that will be useless and dead in 10 years.

There are definitely many trees that sprouted the day you were born (yes, even if you were born in winter, the southern hemisphere exists), many of which are likely to outlive you, some even by multiple centuries, millenia if you're lucky.

There are more trees on earth than stars in the milky way.

I'm now going to be perpetually frustrated that I'll never be able to find and identify my tree soul!

Some trees make branches once a year, so you can count their age just by counting how many levels of branches they have on the main stem. You'll find your tree 🙂

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

Otoh, every tree that you see could be it...

Or at least it will be someone else's. :-)

In some places it's not uncommon to plant a tree the day a baby is born. I hope I can do that someday

Wales did this. The effects of it really show, there's a lot of greenery there (in a good way). If you're lucky to get a holiday during good weather, it can be nice.

no, because trees don't sprout in winter.

[–] Photon@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You know that winter is not happening at the same time in the southern hemisphere and there's even latitudes with no seasons, right?

true. Iaautomatically restricted the hypothetical tree to my geographic region
