Jewish group punishes jews who speak out against genocide. Group is bad. Individuals are courageous.

after publicly criticising Israel’s military assault on Gaza, an act they described as incompatible with Jewish values and morally indefensible

Fuck off, don't tell me what my values are. This is the kind of shit that made me question and then abandon my religion. It's obviously impossible to abandon being ethnically Jewish, but this bullshit has been so goddamn atrocious that it makes me question my people's history.

Jewish values my ass. Israel is run by terrorists and the Zionists in my family welcome it with open arms. Fuck all these monsters.

Edit: ohhhhhhh... Apparently "they" are the heroes of this story who got suspended. I thought that "they" were the board that suspended those folks. Well, fuck me for losing the subject-pronoun-antecedent game. The sentiment remains, but directed towards the fucking bastards who suspended the originators of the quote that I misattributed.

saying that genocide is a Jewish value is the most antisemitic thing in this whole ordeal.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 17 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Is that not the suspended deputies describing the act as incompatible with Jewish values? I'm not sure whether "the act" here is the attack on Gaza or the suspensions, though. It's a very poorly-written sentence on the part of the article's author

Yes, I also read it as the attack on Gaza being the thing described as incompatible with Jewish values. I almost downvoted the guy's comment before I realized he misread it.

Here, in case your downvoting finger is getting a little itchy, you can tell me to fuck right off on this comment

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 2 points 3 days ago

Thanks for pointing that out! Yeah, I totally mistook "they" to mean the board, not the suspended members. To the suspended members, I say "finally. Thank fuck." The best time to stop a genocide is before it starts, but the second best time is right fucking now.

Apparently bombing children and hospitals are a part of Jewish values. So morally superior /s.

I'm disappointed in the Passover story for omitting God's 11th plague: bombing the shit out of the Egyptians. I'm even more upset about them taking this quote out of context:

You shall not oppress a stranger, since you yourselves know the feelings of a stranger, for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

It should actually end with "Unless you have lots of explosives and military equipment being supplied to you. In that case, you should probably terrorize a vibrant and colorful population into becoming radicalized by your abuses and then genocide those people because loony politicians believe that they can personally kick-start the rapture."

Don't worry, I'm sure your first understanding of "they" was also correct, just not said out loud.

After all, why punish criticism of Israel if they don't feel that Bibi & Co speak for them?

This is the type of behavior that makes anti-semitism rise in Europe, all because some corrupt, power-hungry, racist twat is afraid of spending his retirement in jail. (And I'm sorry you are ethnically linked to the cunts that cheer him on)

If I ever get a time machine, I'm gonna go back and make Abraham disappear. It'll be 3 religious birds with 1 stone!

Antisemitism is on the rise because people like you do a lot of victim blaming. Attacking Jews because the internet propaganda made you angry is not justified. It's not happening "because of how the Jews act" or whatever rationalization you're attempting here. Antisemtism happens because antisemitism is being spread on the internet without being challenged because people don't want to upset their friends in the anti-Israel movement.

Actually, I think it's terrible anyone remotely jewish gets hate targetted at them because the hater in question conflates being jewish with being pro-Israel/genocide.

The problem is that there is inherently a large overlap of these 2 groups, and those within that overlap are often the ones we see most in the media.

If you compare polling data with media representation, there is a strong indication that those that are jewish, but critical of Israel, will see retribution or get shunned from their communities, as the article shows. So fear of reprisal is silencing the voices trying to differentiate jewishness from Israel.

Problem is, people who only read headlines or watch 5min of news in the doctor's office will only ever see the pro-Zionist jewish representatives. So to them, only that overlap exists, hence the antisemitism.

So no, I'm not blaming the victim here, because the real victims are those jews who get bashed for something they aren't supporting. I do blame the scum that think there is nothing wrong with firing tank shells at unarmed, starving people queueing to get food, simply because they're Palestinian. You can call it racism if it makes you sleep better at night, I just call it disliking people being dicks to eachother.

Edit: To add, I think the enablers like Bezos & Murdoch are just as evil bastards, regardless of ethnicity or religion. And yes, that includes Hamas as well, especially the leaders living in luxury in Qatar instead of standing among their starving population.

That's a lot of rationalization and excuses for why you won't speak out against the rampant racism within your group.

Here in Canada we're needing to create protest bubbles to prevent people from harassing Canadian Jews: https://globalnews.ca/news/11265909/protest-law-blocking-school-place-fo-worshp/

Look at the people in that image. They are protesting Canadian Jews because they're angry at Jews on the other side of the world. It's antisemitism.

We went through the same thing with the Antivaxxer Convy protests. Bunch of racist assholes back then were using their antivax bullshit as a reason to go out and harass random Asian people on the street.

This movement is no different. And how effective do you think your movement will in influencing government policy when the government is busy making policies to prevent your group from engaging in antisemitic attacks?

The point of this group is obviously not to change anything, and it's turning into a hate group because no one within the group is speaking out against the antisemitism. Look at the image in the article I linked to. By their actions (harassing Canadian Jews at a synagogue), they are antisemitic people and how is anyone supposed to distinguish between that group of antisemitic assholes and any other "pro-Palestinian" protest? Given what I see posted here daily I'm doubting there is anyone that actually cares about Palestinians, it's just an excuse to express hatred and fit in with the group expressing hatred. We've seen this kind of shit happen before.

In Canada, our grandparents fought a war against antisemitc assholes, so you aren't going to intimidate very many Canadians into joining your cause when it's entangled with antisemitsm and violence. If you're looking the other way about antisemitism in your movement, you're in a hate group and people will oppose it. If you really believed in your cause you wouldn't feel the need to use violence to impose your views on others.

Zionism is a death cult.
