This might actually work against him. He'll split the scumbag vote with Adams.

You know, as a spoiler I get the sense he'll just make things that much worse for Adams. Friends in NYC I talked to said the only thing they didn't particularly like about Zohran was potential Defund the Police stuff. Yet, Adams and Cuomo are both pro-police centrists, so that vote gets split (aka deplorable vote).
You know, it's like how everyone saw RFK Jr. as a dem spoiler until polls showed he was taking more from Trump (hence him taking a bribe to drop out).
How does he not get expelled from the democratic party for that? The party ran a primary, he lost. Now he wants to run against the democratic party candidate? Ok fin but be on your own bud. You’re expelled.
The dnc is behind him
Vote blue no matter who!
Ok the voters have chosen Mamdani, all the centrist Dems who demand progressives not run spoilers are gonna vote blue no matter who right?
Right?!
Some will. Many will. Probably even most.
The question that remains to be seen is if enough of them are hypocrites and fascist-enablers to sink the run.
So choosing the "I didn't get control of the city so I'm going to be a spoiler candidate" option, I see. Real leader material.
Ranked choice voting makes it a lot harder to be a spoiler.
My understanding is ranked choice only applies to NYC primary and special elections. General elections are not ranked choice, which I believe the final mayoral to be.
So then why even bother to RCV if some asshat can continue to run after losing?
Probably the idea was that people aren't familiar with it and wouldn't have approved a general election ballot measure when RCV was voted on, so they did the "lower stakes" elections to get everyone comfortable with it first.
As I said before: I better not hear another liberal saying not to split the vote.
I don’t understand this. Is Cuomo listed as a Democrat on the next ballot? If so, what is the purpose of a primary, if a losing candidate can just keep running in the main election? Can anyone just put their name on the main ballot?
No, if he runs it will be as an independent, and he would have to meet whatever requirements NYC has for getting in the ballot as a third party/unaffiliated candidate. Theoretically he could even win as a write-in candidate without ever even qualifying for the ballot as that’s really just to keep ballots from being potentially ginormous. It’s only shitty because it’s him haha. The main thing is that by winning the primary Mamdani has secured access to the democrats party infrastructure while denying it to Cuomo. That’s not to say that the insiders in the party won’t be in the tank for Cuomo, but as far as party resources go it should all be Zohran.
They are expecting Trump to come through and try to reject Mamdani from the country.
Let's fucking make sure this does not happen.
What a dipshit fascist, attempting to be a spoiler candidate.
Not to necessarily shift blame away from that scumbag sex abuser Cuomo , but I'm betting that the Democratic party leaders are behind this.
Who owns the machines, is the software audited, how do they count the votes, are there tabulation servers involved?
Of course he will still be on the ballot. Now they can fire up those alleged, but maybe not alleged funky doodle voting machines so he can magically win.
