General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

No hate like christian love

Judy Crook, who runs the bookshop, told the Guardian that, though as “a point of basic Christian belief, we welcome everybody”, they did not want to promote homosexuality and “we’re not happy with the gay rights situation”.

“We have to respect other people’s views. But we didn’t want the flag flying outside our shop.”

She even admits it’s not Christianity saying to hate LGBTQ folk. She’s just a bigot.

did not want to promote homosexuality

It's not a recruitment drive. Looking at a rainbow flag doesn't make you become gay.

People like that need pushing in the sea

We welcome everybody.

Ew, no, not you.

Coincidentally, this is the latest drama on my WoW server:

Sounds like the Alcoholic's Anonymous loophole will work, you just need to decide your higher power is a doorknob or whatever.

Presumably IRL they live in a fairly secular, non theocratic society, so perhaps its their chance to start a virtual cult. Strange that they're non specific about this higher being. Guess I could bring one of my equally fictitious higher beings on one of their fictitious raids.

I thought Christian didn't like world of Warcraft because it promoted demons or something.

It's because when you play a priest you can't mind control young boys.

"We have to respect other people's views, except we don't want to, also we welcome everybody but don't want them to have rights. "

Why doesn't the journalist ask "in what way does this impact your freedom of religion" and then stand there while they tie themselves in knots trying to answer the question.

I'm offended by Christians, but I can live with them. Musn't upset the bigots though, for some reason.

"Not happy with the gay rights situation" is screaming the quiet part at the top of your lungs.

[–] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder what rights she takes offense at? Them having any rights at all?

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Frankly it's disgusting that we're not allowed to hunt the gays for sport.

Those were the days weren't they? Watching them flamboyantly dancing through the cross hairs of my .22 rifle! This country's gone to the dogs old chap!

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago

Christians are the fucking worst

[–] 01011@monero.town 9 points 2 weeks ago

I look forward to the day when we stop displaying signs that celebrate human execution in public. When those idiots are bleating about "tH1nk 0f tH3 cH1ldr3n" why doesn't that apply to their silly death cult?

The new administration has also introduced Christian prayer at the start of its meetings, with a Reform councillor, the group whip Dan Price, saying the UK was a “Christian country”.

Cool.

So are they going to start operating food shelters to feed the poor then? They're Christian after all.

[–] NickwithaC@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

No more landlords either. Get in!

This is the business on Google Maps if anyone wants to leave them a nice 1 star review

Google probably tracks the link reviews are coming from to detect review bombing though, not sure if we can find a way around that.

(Note: a previous, now deleted, comment I posted contained a link to the wrong business, please don't use that link if you still see it for some reason)
