"They will be prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law," Trump said in a statement. "Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America."

Ah, like they did with the violent perpetrators of the January 6th insurrection, until you pardoned them all and set them free.

Wonder if the perp will turn out to be a pardoned j6er...

Reporting in from Minnesota: State law enforcement is now telling everybody "Do not show up to No Kings Day Events"

Sen. Walz posted on Bluesky for people to not go to protests and there were 400 comments of mostly people saying they were going anyways. Was nice to see.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 35 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Walz is governor. His statement is intentional. He needs to be seen as "giving good advice".

He knows it won't stop anyone. Just like during the George Floyd protests. He knows what he's doing.

Democratic leaders should have bodyguard details that they have personally chosen outside of the Federal framework. The violence will keep escalating, both stochaostic and direct.

the slain lawmaker as State Rep. Melissa Hortman of Brooklyn Park and her husband, Mark, while state Sen. John Hoffman of Champlin and his wife, Yvette, were injured. Both lawmakers were members of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. [...] The assailant, who is still at large, allegedly impersonated a police officer.

My support and sympathy to the families. Absolutely no surprise at any of that news.

"We have to remain non-violent"

Meanwhile, the far right nutjobs

"impersonating" a police officer. Yup, on the largest protest day ever. No need to think more about it. Surely it wouldn't be an actual cop using a scapegoat, nope .

Impersonating a police officer or a disgruntled police officer. Irregardless, the uniform alone will get one close to the target. The USA is a sick country and the fucks in MAGA will make it worse.

Also, since the article doesn't mention it, deliberately of course, they were both Democrats. One was the speaker of the house.
