100%. Epitome of racing incident. Perez could barely keep it on the track. That was bs.

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

5sec definitely seems excessive.

[-] PeeJay@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Fully deserved imo

[-] R05@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Perez was already nursing a problem, if anyone was driving dangerously it was him.

Hmm, I dunno… I can see it being ruled a racing incident because the action wasn’t that bad. But he did understeer into an opponent, damaging his car, and ruining his race.

It seems like they judged the outcome more so than the action itself.

5 Seconds is a bit of a joke considering they were alongside in the corner and the track conditions 🙄

He's had a lot of bad luck this season, but i feel his drives have gone under the radar a bit. He's in a new team and has been more or less on the same racepace as Ocon from the get-go. Very interested to see how the fight between the two develops.

[-] wgbirne@feddit.de 4 points 1 year ago

Shouldn't he get a penalty for unsafe release? He almost crashed into Stroll. Why was there no mention of this from race control?

[-] imbrucy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Gasly and Leclerc both looked like they should have gotten unsafe release penalties. I guess the stewards decided to be lenient considering the chaos in the pits.

Ricciardo in the points 🤯🤯

Edit: no more :(

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Still not too bad of a drive! He definitely had more pace than Yuki.

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 8 points 1 year ago

Checo floundering and Danny Ric in the points in an Alpha Tauri. I think we all know what thoughts are going through Helmut's head right now.

Finished way ahead of Tsunoda and (by luck) ahead of Perez, that looks good for him

[-] jramskov@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Rare mistake by Alonso…

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

While we wait, thought I'd share this from the stream:

[-] BowserDelta@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

World focking champion

Great strategy from McLaren. Interested to see how things work out with no DRS for Max.

Gasly got a huge jump. Finally a W for Alpine. Sainz got shafted unfortunately.

That wasnt a 5s penalty lol

[-] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Hamilton knocked a lump out of the Red Bull. How you can claim a penalty isn't deserved is beyond me.

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 3 points 1 year ago

I just watched the race and I didn't notice the hole until I saw a post on Reddit, I don't think it was obvious during the race that there was that much damage.

[-] Gsicht@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Please, please no repeat of 2021.

35 min delay

[-] BowserDelta@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Safety car, damn it Fernando

[-] LittleWizard@feddit.de 6 points 1 year ago

Wtf is that penalty?

[-] baduhai@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 year ago

Most bullshit penalty I've seen in a long time.

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

If this is the threshold for the amount of spray to race then we'll never see a full wet race again.

[-] Plaid_Kaleidoscope@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yoooo. Anyone else here? Let's go sprint racing!

[-] BowserDelta@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Did the start get pushed back? Thought I might have missed it!

[-] ripened_avacado@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Same. I woke up a bit late and thought I missed the start. Anyone knows the reason for it?

[-] Squeak@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

There was a delay to the sprint qualifying and there’s a rule about giving a certain amount of time between quali and the sprint.

Look at that 🌈

[-] BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

How many caps does a formula1 driver have? Feels like they're handed a new one every five seconds

[-] BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

RIP Alonso, lucky break for Verstappan

[-] TheWheelMustGoOn@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

This race should be longer!

[-] jramskov@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

~5 minutes to start - hoping for a standing start 🤞

[-] jramskov@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

4 laps behind safety car, then rolling start.

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 3 points 1 year ago

Wow, can barely remember the last time Fernando made a mistake like that.

[-] ripened_avacado@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Ferrari 😓

[-] Motecuhzoma@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

RB nailed Checo’s pit stop, good stuff

[-] bhmnscmm@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I sure wish this was going to be a standing start. I'd love to see Oscar try to get the jump on Max.
