Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

idubz is an incredible turnaround story from incredible chud to what he is today.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 43 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Damn when did ID get cool? I though he was just a slur enthusiast

[–] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 50 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He got an only-fans girlfriend and she forced him to repent. Now the slur enthusiasts hate him.

[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago

"I can fix him"

Actually fixes him

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 27 points 1 year ago

Is she the one who’s Lebanese/irish? She sounds kinda based and he certainly is more articulate on Israel now than 10-15 years ago

[–] dditty@lemm.ee 40 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If I remember correctly, idubbz apologized for all the slurs and misogyny a few years back (ironically I think it was in an interview with H3). He realized he had been unintentionally courting a right-wing fanbase and grew up. He seemed genuine.

Sad to see how far Ethan/H3 continues to fall

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He also did a video on Sam Hyde, someone he had some kind of affinity for and I think the process of doing that, of experiencing Sam Hyde in person, and really made he introspective. I can't remember if this was before or after what you mentioned. But I remember he finished that video and he clearly didn't have a positive experience.

[–] dead@hexbear.net 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

From what I remember, Idubbbz was trying to make a video against Sam Hyde. Sam Hyde somehow figured it out. Sam Hyde hired a bunch of actors to pretend to be Sam's friends to troll Idubbbz. Idubbbz released the video against Sam Hyde and then Sam Hyde released a video showing that everyone in Idubbbz video were actors that Sam payed for.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

Oh I missed that side of the story, that's wild.

[–] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Only after Sam forced his hand.

I never really followed him (just knew his reputation) but he made a video not long ago that I couldn't avoid where he talks about his old content and the community he cultivated and how he wanted to change and I found it really fascinating to hear him reflect, personally I think it's worth a watch (I'm remembering now that this video legit made me cry hearing him talk about his realizations that he was hurting his fans and people around him): https://youtu.be/iRkCfOuW_u0

It seems like a bunch of commenters on the Ethan video missed this memo from a year ago lol

[–] buh@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm looking at some of his videos in the last few months and he has ones dunking on anti-abortion and anti-trans conservatives

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 21 points 1 year ago

Based. I’ve thankfully been free of the YouTube commentary space for years so I missed this development

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

it started to happen about 3 years ago I think and he officially addressed the topic in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRkCfOuW_u0

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He was always cool, you just didn't understand

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think I understood r slur n word f slur well enough

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago

Hello mtv, welcome to my crab

From the H3 sub:

Pretty sure Hasan commissioned the content cop

No proof, just putting it out there.

It's not a wild speculation

100% I wouldn’t be shocked in the least if Hasan leveraged Anissa to make Ian do it (because let’s face it she is his handler) by promising money for their ‘charity’ boxing event or some other reward for their platform.

For sure

Idubbbz infected by the WOKE MIND VIRUS

[–] buh@hexbear.net 32 points 1 year ago

dubbbz is short for W, which stands for WOKE

[–] sleeplessone@lemmy.ml 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I find it unintentionally funny that BadEmpanada never gets explicitly mentioned in the H3 boogeyman tier list. It's like he's the secret even higher tier that is too much of a boogeyman to be named.

[–] Coolkidbozzy@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

badempanada dancing in the back of hasan's stream would have sent ethan into a catatonic state

[–] jjsandwich7@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Probably won't watch it but I felt this when I saw the title heartbreaking

[–] Balefirex@hexbear.net 37 points 1 year ago (1 children)

heartbreaking

Nah, bro had a redemption arc. In his previous vid about trans women in sports he talks about how he thankfully avoided going full-on reactionary. That one's shorter and not just youtube drama if you wanna give it a watch.

[–] jjsandwich7@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

Well that's good! I knew he apologized for his content but I was still a bit wary about him. Glad to see hes actually changed and stuck with it

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

230,000 views in 3 hours is pretty good.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

1m views in 6 hours god damn

[–] RandallThymes@hexbear.net 26 points 1 year ago

I got ten minutes in and this video is not for me, I’m happy to see how much Ian has grown as a person though.

(jk I like idubbbz)

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

iDubbbz is still around? Wtf?

[–] dead@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Idubbbz is the owner/organizer of Creator Clash, the twitch/youtube charity boxing event.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I always just assumed he was yet another right wing reactionary YouTuber like the rest of em

[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

He was, yeah.

[–] SovietBeerTruckOperator@hexbear.net 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is it weird this is the first I've ever heard of this guy? This video seems to be popping off and everyone is like "YOOOOOOO I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS GUY IN HIGH SCHOOL!" and I'm just like, I've been pretty online for a while and I've never seen this guy.

[–] LisaTrevor@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago

I wish I could say the same

he was popular for saying slurs with no shame and being friends with Joji when he was still wearing a pink morph suit and eating cakes made of vomit and hair (I fucking hate that I know this specific part of 2010s YouTube history because I was there to witness it)

[–] capybara@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

He made some popular videos with filthy frank which I assume most people know him from. It's not impossible that some know him without the help of filthy frank considering that his videos, especially content cop, had millions of views.

[–] frogbellyratbone_@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

lol wtf am i even watching minute 2.5+ gets wild

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

I love the clip @ 14:14 where Ethan is just like "I don't have any fr___" and he cuts himself off and rewords it but what he's thinking deep down is that he has NOOOO FRIENDS the sad fucking loser.

[–] MrPoopyButthole@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've appreciated his work towards rehabilitating his content, but this felt like an hour of incomprehensible clips that have little to do with what he's saying.

I feel like this video wouldn't even make sense if you don't know know all of his and H3's lore.

Weird video.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 33 points 1 year ago

I'm 99% sure this video is for Ethan explicitly. Since Ethan appears to be airing his grievances publicly Ian is doing so in kind.

What year is it again?

[–] procapra@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I watched the whole thing and subbed. Maybe I'm just really fond of drama slop, but I thought he was pretty mature about it. I'm sad he's currently getting ratio'd by his fans but maybe his collab with hasan can help him start up a new career?
