RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I'm low-key convinced that this is either:

  1. A spam vulnerability test for various instances/communities. (With good or bad intentions.)
  2. A doxxing attempt. (Some links lead to addresses.)

If the latter, I hope we can reverse the negativity by creating a GoFundMe for her or something.

That bitch. I thought we were exclusive.

Yeah, I did a week ago. Blocked the account. Got a new one today but the messages was surprisingly “censored”, so just blocked that account as well.

Just give it no attention. Block and move on, the person isn’t worth any attention.

I almost feel bad that Nicole hasn’t messaged me

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago

Yes we are making it a meme

[–] charonn0@startrek.website 22 points 18 hours ago

Many people, apparently: !nicole@feddit.org

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 10 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yes frequently.

It’s annoying. But not as bad as the stupid community that keeps posting screenshots of it and spreading it further.

[–] gruhuken@slrpnk.net 12 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I think people are just goofing off and having fun with it man

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

It’s not fun being spammed with spam.

[–] Inf_V@kbin.earth 9 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

you can block the community

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I did, and than memes started doing it too.

[–] lectricleopard@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Do you know the origin of the word meme?

[–] NorthWestWind@lemmy.world 10 points 18 hours ago

A lot of people did. Like almost everyone knows it's a scam and people have been shitposting it and forming a cult

[–] Resurectra@lemm.ee 1 points 11 hours ago

Got my first one today!

Haha I think she's here to greet people to the fediverse! She was wearing a different shirt when she messaged me!

[–] SatyrSack@feddit.org 6 points 14 hours ago

But still the same bong peeking into shot. In every photo.

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, and her invitations are a trap designed to steal from you.

Would be neat if automated daters came in men. Alas, they always come in women.

[–] AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I dunno about that, honestly. The images are clearly screenshots of a webcam, and the matrix seems to dox someone's workplace. I think it could be a harassment campaign.

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 3 points 15 hours ago

True. Boy have I witnessed a lot of that before. Sadly the people around these parts are none the wiser, which I knew even before I could relate to Nicole, supposing this is the case.

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 18 hours ago

I have three of them in my inbox atm
