I really don't think we can out-weird tumblr. Then again, we do have an nsfw instance ...

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 14 hours ago

Lol. There's so much porn on tumblr...

[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Now, I haven't been to any of the darker corners of it, but tumblr seems to have gotten tame af after they banned all nsfw content.

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Didn't they revert that policy because so much of their traffic was porn?

I think that was onlyfans, I could be wrong (because I cant be assed to actually look it up) but if I remember correctly they reverted their policy on nudity, but kept the ban on porn, to allow artists to continue to share their work.

[–] melpomenesclevage@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

and those other places no longer do porn, so anything that starts out as porn and somebody decides to turn into 'high' art can only really thrive here, or pornhub.

There a few NSFW creators her on Lemmy, that are trying to do artistic work. It’s rare thou.

[–] melpomenesclevage@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

it's rare in a lot of places. most people are bad at art, and it's hard to get over that expressive hump to do nudes, and doing art while pushing past that is really difficult. fucking puritanism really fucks with all our sexy/body-horror art. also a staggering amount of children, which I'm sure is a coincidence.

I think I can out weird Tumblr. I mean, I somehow have negative 1 notes on one my Tumblr posts.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Like we're not all ex-tumblr users.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 1 points 6 hours ago

YES! I still use tumblr.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

IDK man, I've spent a lot more time on CuratedTumblr (r/ and c/) than on tumblr.com. I've been there only just long enough to come to the conclusion that I either don't get how you're supposed to use tumblr or that it's annoying to use (so. many. reblogs.).

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 hours ago

You could have just said, "Actually, I'm not that weird."

It's cool now but the Yahoo! era was an exodus event

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't wait for them to find the post about the guy trying to hold in his poop.

[–] dwemthy@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Missed that one, got a link?

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago

The original post doesn't seem to be around any more, but someone took a screen shot of it in this post: https://lemmy.ca/pictrs/image/6660c2f3-8b8d-4ca9-9b78-88fc2f359d5f.jpeg

Unpopular opinion, but I think we should let the beans things go away. It's been a while, let's create new lore!

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I think we should let the beans things go away.

Is this because you want to feel what it's like to be wrong? If so, well done.

Hands off my beans!

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

Beans are great, I have some quite often.

The beans Lemmy episode, not so much

Capers. A cultured pea alternative.

I vote instead we get more impenetrable and arcane with it, until it becomes a code phrase we can use to trigger some physiological reaction in fediverse users not unlike a magic spell. 'imagine beans'.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

like it or hate it, i think Nicole is taking over the beans

[–] Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

So you're saying we should transition to positive discussion of the relative merits and techniques of holding ones bowels for 3 days?

That should bring in the newbies

[–] SatyrSack@feddit.org 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Do people still make jokes about beans often?

[–] Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago

This post is an example, it comes up probably once a week

they are working on bridging ?

[–] MBM@lemmings.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Tumblr said it'd join the fediverse like 2 years ago but I don't know when they actually mean to do so

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 2 points 6 hours ago

They said recently that they'd add activitypub support once they finish migrating to wordpress.

[–] xigoi@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Someone had already built a Bluesky-Mastodon bridge and had to take it down because Mastodon users lost their shit at the thought of other platforms being able to interoperate with them.

[–] Irelephant@lemm.ee 1 points 6 hours ago

No, he switched it to opt-in, which makes it kinda useless.

[–] Inkstainthebat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wait what? Really? Weren't people mad at Bluesky for the fact it didn't federate with ActivityPub?

[–] xigoi@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 23 hours ago

Different people, presumably.

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Bridgyfed is still running afaik but has some more tight opt-in requirements than originally

[–] xigoi@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

It now requires opt-in, which completely defeats the point of a bridge.

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 2 points 12 hours ago

Not really? It's convenient for big account to bridge, and the small accounts who cry "privacy" can't complain anymore
