Lead is a more effective antidote.

The sad truth is that facts don't work on them

Facts aren't an antidote. Not anymore. Best they can be is a vaccine.

The antidote is removing Fox News and OAN from cable listings.

It's wild to me that shit like that can be allowed on major networks despite its detrimental effects on the population. I wonder if there's language to regulate blatant disinformation that doesn't restrict other freedoms.

The Fairness Doctrine, or at least the removal for it, is the main reason why we have shit like Fox News. Conservatives aimed to remove it after Watergate because they realized that the reason Nixon was close to being impeached was not because he did something bad, but because the majority of the nation believed the facts.

There was no question whether Nixon sent people to the hotel. There was no question as to what happened.

There was a shared understand of the facts.

Conservatives decided that they can't have that and Reagan got rid of it.

Ugghh. More bullshit affecting USians day to day that circles back to Regan and Nixon. :(

Thanks for informing me about the Fairness Doctrine. I didn't know that existed once.

Unfortunately it's not that easy to pull people out of the "orange fever". People underestimate just how effective how right-wing propaganda is at indoctrinating people towards hatred, and against their own best interests.

Yeeeeeeeaaaahhhhh, it's all well and good coming up with these clever little things and funny puns, but in the end who are you trying to convince?

Everyone who looks and this and agrees already had a negative opinion of Trump. And anyone who disagreed would be happy to see these two arrested or worse.

The right come to their protests with guns and violence and are willing to kill if they think they can get away with it.

He eats facts and shits them as "truths", so facts are, unfortunately, not an antidote

Antidote: Lead at high speed

[–] chemicalwonka@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 month ago

Antidote: facts? MusKKK, Trump and his army of racist lunatics don't care about facts, they are living in another reality based on fake news, the facts can't reach them

[–] ignotum@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Their feelings don't care about your facts

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Empathy, too...
