Watching Ted Lasso made me wish I had a sportsball community to be part of.

Watching Ted Lasso made me wish I had a sportsball community to be part of.

I decided in 2015 to be a fan of the (then terrible, but historically awesome) McLaren F1 team. I really liked the McLaren P1 hypercar (not that I will ever be able to afford or even drive one), and I thought that was a good enough reason to pick a team to follow.

I have thoroughly loved watching their rise from dismal in 2015 to winning the Constructor’s Championship in 2024!

Find a sport that interests you, there are LOTS of them. And then find any reason to pick a team. It’s fun, even if absolutely meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

(I really liked F1 because the technical side is fascinating, and I only needed to learn the names of twenty athletes. 😅)

At some point you will get a reason. I don't particularly like football, but I like the tables and tourney brackets and whatnot.

I used to support random teams in the premier leauge, but then switched to my shitty university town because of that connection.

Same for my local team in the town I was born. They were in sub sub sub leauges so I supported something random, until I decided to go for them when they made it to a bit of a higher leauge.

I currently support the team in the coutry I live in based purely on their colours. To be fair to me, I've used those for personal branding for about 20 years, and usually try to dress in those colours anway, so it felt like providence.

Have you heard of Welcome to Wrexham? It might appeal and provide a timely bandwagon to jump on.

Wow, Malala is so cool. She is my kind of celebrity: could not give a shit less about movie stars, but I would totally fanperson all over Malala. She might actually make me care about sports! (But probably not.)

Sportsball is meh, but Malala is incredible. I will always be a fan of hers. Thanks for the share. 💜
