Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

the death of drakes career is a candle in dark times.

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Drake's career is already dead. This is Kendrick dancing on his corpse.

This is Kendrick dancing on his corpse.

More like this is Serena Williams crip walking on Drake's corpse. https://www.tiktok.com/@manofmany/video/7469604456393395464

history for those who want to know.(Why? Drake is an ex, who talked shit about Serena, when she made it known to Drake early on that she wasn't really into him. https://www.buzzfeed.com/leylamohammed/serena-williams-kendrick-lamar-super-bowl-halftime-drake) (BTW, Serena is married to Alexis Ohanian. Yes, THAT Alexis. Who's also the guy she ditched Drake for.)

EDIT: edited for brevity and to spare you from drama.

I guess I'll just have to wait for a transcript because I can't make out a single fucking word. I'm starting to think I have some kind of auditory processing thing going on with me. I've always been bad at catching lyrics. Live shows are the worst. And it looks like he's trying to do something with this that's worth paying attention to.

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fox botched the audio. Apparently it was a lot better on Tubi, and it's fixed on the videos they're uploading to YouTube

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

But doctor, I watched it on youtube buggy-disappointed

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago

Ah, then you should stop watching performances on YouTube.

[–] copandballtorture@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Hey me too buddy (auditory processing issue)

This is the song list from the performance. Also Kendrick is performing "clean" versions of the songs in the half time show. He pauses instead of saying the swear words.

  1. "GNX"
  2. "Squabble Up"
  3. "Humble"
  4. "DNA"
  5. "Euphoria"
  6. "Man at the Garden"
  7. "Peekaboo"
  8. "Luther" feat. SZA
  9. "All the Stars" feat. SZA
  10. "Not Like Us"
  11. "TV Off"

e/ Oh here's the full transcript of the show. https://genius.com/Kendrick-lamar-super-bowl-lix-halftime-show-lyrics

NFL took down the video in the US for some reason.

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago

They must have noticed the Palestinian flag one of the dancers had

[–] sudoer777@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

now it's back, nothing suspicious going on here

[–] blame@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

some sort of drake related drama

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

I absolutely LOVED when the audience shouted "A MINOR!"

I don't personally care for Kendrick music but glad to see Drake getting owned.

[–] moonlake@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Is american culture so stale that you are reheating a beef that ended in what feels like 2 years ago? How many victory laps does this man need? Let's get some people younger than 40 years on that stage. Wake me up when 100 gecs is performing sicko-zoomer

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

Yeah its wild some folks pretend he is old

[–] dead@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

100 gecs hasn't released music since March 2023 (2 years ago). I liked the 10000 gecs album

Kendrick released the GNX album at the end of November (3 months ago). 5 of the songs in the performance were from the GNX album, 2 songs were from the Drake beef.

The new hip experimental artist is OsamaSon.

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lmao 100gecs isn't the kid thing anymore, you're OLD and OUT OF TOUCH OUT OF TIME YOURE OUT OF YOUR HEAD WHEN IM NOT AROUND

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

I mean, Kendrick himself literally says "the revolution 'bout to be televised" and obviously the Sam Jackson skit there is meant to be some kind of criticism. But it's very joyce-messier to be saying that while doing an ad for Apple.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I don’t think he was being sincere when he said that

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You don't think the halftime show was meant to have at least a little element of #resist to it?

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Maybe, the Uncle sam bit in particular, but the rest was just a concert. Didn't he say something like "right fucking time, wrong fucking person" immediately after the "revolution is televised" line? It seems like it was aware of people building it up as a revolutionary moment and deliberately undercut it. I could be over or underthinking it

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I read "right time wrong person" as "you have the perfect opportunity for a nice patriotic show but I'm about to pop out and show them big-cool" followed up by a lot of lib nonsense.

Getting mad at the Kendrick Revolutionary Vanguard which DEFINITELY exists

[–] TeraByteMarx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

If it was Boots it would have been a lot better tho :(

[–] Moss@hexbear.net 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I watched a bunch of Superbowl half time shows with my American friend recently, and the best one we watched was Lady Gaga's. Last night's show was the second best, I really really liked it

[–] Spongebobsquarejuche@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

Katy Perry's was really good.

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

The concept is cool. The choreography I feel could have been better, comparing with other halftime shows. Still a better than usual show, given it’s Kendrick and not some country singer.
