This reminds me so much of that time the newspaper accidentally switched the captions between Dennis the Menace and the Far Side
Edit:. For those who haven't seen it. The second one, though both are great

Clearly Gary Larson’s skill transcends his on comics and has the power to make Dennis the Menace funny.
And they said that it couldn't be done!
This is delightful. Reminds me of Garfield without Garfield: https://screenrant.com/15-dark-garfield-minus-strips-jon-depressing/#quot-where-39-s-garfield-quot
Al Jaffee was an absolute genius.
One for the ages for sure!
Mad magazine was amazing
Yeah, although wow did it go downhill starting in the 90s.
around about 1980 i couldn't walk past a book store without scouring it for anything written by those guys, and of course the latest issue of the magazine itself.. but i also had a bunch of books that were collections of Don Adams, Dick DeBartolo, and Al Jaffee's stuff, i couldn't get enough..
Yep. We have ours and you have yours.
Bloom County round about 1987 or so released a collection that included a fake copy of the Bloom Picayune newspaper. In the comics section there was a Family Circus cartoon that showed little Billy holding a turtle and saying "Beanie's so old and smelly he reminds me of Grandma".
If you like these check out Dysfunctional Family Circus.

I do love me some Garfield Minus Garfield!
That shit is hilarious
Really struggling to find an archive that's even semi-complete if not entirely missing
It goes way back to the early web. Might have even been on Usenet before that. It's super old and multiple people have contributed (I remember they did a couple of mine on their site), so you'll never get it all.
Yeah I found plenty of archives talking about it and pointing to the same dead archive. Unfortunately. A lot of individual comics. More than anything else. A lot of copy cats doing their own thing with it... ah well
Eekum bokum
