Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Tankies still say shit like "but the Dems were gonna sell weapons to Israel anyways so both sides bad"

This is fucking stupid, I hate being right.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the hold, saying Democratic lawmakers had exercised a hold.

So, not even the Repitlicans. Democrats at least make an effort to do something. Finally.

They want a cut.

Maybe this time at least people will care if/when the president goes around Congress to fund a genocide in violation of the Lehay Act....

Because I still can't get over no one caring when Biden did it.

Comparing the arms sales of the two admins is a completely different scale and magnitude. Apples to Orchards.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

I think people cared that Biden did it, but what are we to do? Pissing and moaning about it just strengthened the anti Biden/Harris crowd and created a strawman for the opposition to use. The criticism was and is warranted, but I think saying no one cared is disingenuous. I think it's arguably one of the biggest reasons Trump is president today.

They'll probably add language that requires the money to be purchased from their corporations of choice and then approve it.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

I'd be willing to bet they'll reintroduce it in an even worse form. The majority of them don't give a shit about genocide.

[–] Cool_Name@lemm.ee 12 points 8 hours ago

That is unfair to claim they don't give a shit about genocide. Most of our representatives care deeply and are doing everything within the powers of the legislative branch...

...to support genocide. They fucking love it!

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

You give them too much credit, they nothing genocide.

Hey! Congress finally woke up from their nap.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

They won't do anything to stop this, they're a Republican majority in both chambers. This hold is temporary at best and symbolic at worst.

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 7 hours ago

They weren't napping. They were completely supporting this genocide for the past year and a half.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 10 points 9 hours ago

"Okay, well, we're going to send the arms anyway."

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 3 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Now we know what it takes for that to ever happen.

[–] randon31415@lemmy.world -2 points 7 hours ago

Biden is no longer there to stop the Senate democrats from doing the right thing.
