HOWEVER, keep the doors closed because cats are not allowed in. This is because they cannot get out themselves (and get all sad, as seen in the pic, and presumably scratch and poop on things inside).
Do not let the cats out of which side of the door though? Is the cat on the wrong side currently or are they on the correct side?

You're exactly wrong. Heat-seeking wild cats are not allowed IN because they can't get OUT themselves once they get hungry/thirsty or need to poop.
But they can not get out so it's fine
It's the other way around. Make sure to not let heat-seeking cats in ("🚫CATS PAST HERE🚫"), as they cannot get out themselves when they get hungry or poopy.
