Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.

If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.

Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.

Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.

Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.

Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.

Image is of many Hamas soldiers supervising the handing over of Israeli hostages to cars heading out of the Gaza Strip.

After 15 months of genocide - and resistance to it - the Israeli regime realized that they could not win a military victory against Hamas, and were forced to sign a humiliating ceasefire in order to get their hostages returned.

With much of Syria under the control of Al-Qaeda, and an increasing level of covert infiltration into Lebanon, the crisis in the Middle East is not over, and we may still be in its beginning stages, as the center of hegemony continues its gradual shift away from the United States. Their navy, once considered the best in the world, is likely also not very happy about their ships and aircraft carriers being forced to retreat by Yemen, one of the poorest countries; and all eyes are on Iran, who has, over the last year and a half, demonstrated a newfound confidence and strength to directly strike Israel.

The recovery for Gaza will take, at a minimum, decades; it could indeed never fully recovery to even how it was before, considering it is not in Israel's interests to see their concentration camps recover. But Hamas has proven to be steadfast and the tunnel network has proven its resilience, despite facing some of the most powerful conventional bombing in history. This shows that Palestine's liberation is a when, not an if; and hopefully a much sooner "when" than expected before October 7th.

The tariffs on MX/CA are going to be REALLY bad

Like, wouldn't this kill neoliberalism in the US? At least severely weaken it? And it'll fuck over workers everywhere

Hopefully Sheinbaum nationalizes any shuttered manufacturing plants, to minimize their losses somewhat

Europe’s Summer Will Bring Worries About Next Winter’s Gas

The reasons are twofold. First, Ukraine – understandably — didn’t renew at the end of 2024 a transit contract that allowed its archenemy Russia to ship gas into Europe via its pipelines. Russia doesn’t sell as much gas into Europe as it once did, but Moscow has remained an important supplier for countries including Slovakia, Austria, Italy, Czechia and Hungary. The loss of that Russian gas will force Europe to rely more heavily on other sources, such as US liquefied natural gas and its own storage.

Definitely not because US asked Ukraine to not renew.

The US Congress passes the Laken Riley Act and Trump will likely sign it. This allows states to push US immigration policy right as well as requiring the DHS to detain legal immigrants accused of certain crimes.

Direction – Social Democracy (Slovak: Smer – sociálna demokracia, Smer–SD), also commonly referred to as Smer, is a left-wing nationalist and left-wing populist political party in Slovakia led by the incumbent prime minister Robert Fico. The party identifies as social-democratic, and was described as a combination of "leftist economics and nationalist appeal".

Fico has promised to cut all aid to Ukraine as a result of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, and has promised to block Ukrainian accession to NATO should the subject be broached under his tenure. Fico has also stated that the Ukrainian government is run by neo-Nazis.

In the 2000s, the party opposed the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan, and organized the withdrawal of 110 Slovak soldiers that were deployed in Iraq. In its foreign policy manifesto, Smer calls for understanding with countries "with a form of government other than parliamentary democracy", referring to China and Vietnam. In 2007, Fico made an official state visit to the then leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, "discussing the fight against world imperialism"

In October 2023, Smer was suspended from the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the affiliated Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) European Parliament group., following its formation of a coalition government with the Slovak National Party. Smer subsequently declined to join the Fidesz-led Patriots for Europe group, stating that it would not join a non-leftist group. In September 2024, Smer began negotiations with two other parties in the Non-Inscrits, the German Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht and the Czech Stačilo!, on establishing cooperation between left-wing conservative parties.

So, they are just a social democrat party that is a bit critical of the US and EU, and at the same time they get to hang out with cool people?

As clansman in chief quickly realizes the instability of the status quo and goes for the genocide accelerator:

You’re talking about probably a million and a half people. And we just clean out that whole thing. Over the centuries it’s had many, many conflicts, that site. And I don’t know, something has to happen.

Some people were paying attention to the 1.5 million number. Out of 2.4 million 16 months ago.

One a more hopeful note, if what I read is true, and the Arab regimes are not that stable, things could escalate very quickly if he tries to use the finesse he's bringing to his mandate.

Not gonna lie, I find it genuinely hilarious how worms like Mette Frederiksen and other Altlantists still dream that they are independent when they are actually complete vassal states of the American empire. Vassals that America has shown time and time again will be discarded whenever the empire feels like it.

Donald Trump in fiery call with Denmark’s prime minister over Greenland

Donald Trump insisted he was serious in his determination to take over Greenland in a fiery telephone call with Denmark’s prime minister, according to senior European officials.

...

They added that Trump had been aggressive and confrontational following the Danish prime minister’s comments that the island was not for sale, despite her offer of more co-operation on military bases and mineral exploitation.
“It was horrendous,” said one of the people. Another added: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.”
The details of the call are likely to deepen European concerns that Trump’s return to power will strain transatlantic ties more than ever, as the US president heaps pressure on allies to give up territory.

“The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode,” said one person briefed on the call. Another said: “The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”
A former Danish official added: “It was a very tough conversation. He threatened specific measures against Denmark such as targeted tariffs.”

President Petro put out this I translated to English

Trump, I don't really like traveling to the USA, it's a bit boring, but I confess there are commendable things, I like to go to the Black neighborhoods of Washington, there I saw an entire fight in the capital of the USA between Blacks and Latinos with barricades, which seemed silly to me, because they should unite.

I confess that I like Walt Whitman and Paul Simon and Noam Chomsky and Miller.

I confess that Sacco and Vanzetti, who have my blood, in the history of the USA, are memorable and I follow them. They were murdered for being labor leaders with the electric chair, the fascists who are inside the USA as within my own country.

I don't like your oil, Trump, it will end the human species because of greed. Perhaps someday, over a glass of whiskey that I would accept, despite my gastritis, we can talk frankly about this, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race and I am not, nor is any Colombian.

So if you know someone stubborn, that's me, period. You can with your economic power and your arrogance try to stage a coup d'état like they did with Allende. But I will die upholding my principles, I resisted torture and I resist you. I don't want enslavers next to Colombia, we already had many and we freed ourselves. What I want next to Colombia are lovers of freedom. If you cannot accompany me, I will go elsewhere. Colombia is the heart of the world and you didn't understand, this is the land of yellow butterflies, of the beauty of Remedios, but also of the colonels Aureliano Buendía, of whom I am one of them, perhaps the last one.

You will kill me, but I will survive in my people who are before yours, in the Americas. We are peoples of the winds, the mountains, of the Caribbean Sea and of freedom.

You do not like our freedom, fine. I do not shake hands with white slavers. I shake the hands of white libertarians, heirs of Lincoln and of the young Black and white farmers of the USA, before whose tombs I wept and prayed in a battlefield, which I reached after walking mountains of the Italian Tuscany and after saving myself from Covid.

They are the USA and before them I kneel, before no one else.

Overthrow me president and the Americas and humanity will respond to you.

Colombia now stops looking north, looks at the world, our blood comes from the blood of the Caliphate of Cordoba, civilization at that time, of the Roman Latins of the Mediterranean, civilization at that time, who founded the republic, democracy in Athens; our blood has the resistant Blacks turned into slaves by you. In Colombia is the first free territory of America, before Washington, of all of America, there I take refuge in their African songs.

My land is of goldsmithing existing in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs, and of the first artists of the world in Chiribiquete.

You will never dominate us. The warrior who rode our lands, shouting freedom and who is called Bolívar opposes you.

Our peoples are somewhat fearful, somewhat timid, they are naive and kind, loving, but they will know how to win back the Panama Canal, which you took from us with violence. Two hundred heroes from all of Latin America lie in Bocas del Toro, current Panama, before Colombia, whom you murdered.

I raise a flag and as Gaitán said, even if I am left alone, it will remain hoisted with Latin American dignity which is the dignity of America, which your great-grandfather did not know, and mine did, Mr. President immigrant in the USA.

Your blockade does not scare me; because Colombia, besides being the country of beauty, is the heart of the world. I know you love beauty as I do, do not disrespect it and it will offer you its sweetness.

COLOMBIA FROM TODAY OPENS TO THE WHOLE WORLD, WITH OPEN ARMS, WE ARE BUILDERS OF FREEDOM, LIFE AND HUMANITY.

I am informed that you put a 50% tariff on our fruit of human labor to enter the USA, I will do the same.

Let our people sow corn that was discovered in Colombia and feed the world. source in spanish(x link)

Does Donald Trump telling Netanyahu he has to sign a ceasefire with Hamas, at least temporarily, prove that Israel doesn't have as much "blackmail" leverage over US politicians as some people think? Trump was BFF's with Epstein, they would have to have a ton of it on him. Or does it just mean that there is nothing you could release that would actually hurt Trump?

Since Columbia is probably getting 25-50% of tariffs on its Exports to the USA this is a chard with some of the stuff they sell to the US

the most important seem to be Coffee which makes up about 20% of total US imports and Flowers which i think someone here mention that Roses from Colombia are around 90% of USA imports

Denmark Bows to US Demands, Ramps Up Military Spending

Denmark's regime is turning a big dial that says "military spending" on it and constantly looking back towards Washington for approval like a contestant on the price is right.

Denmark’s Social Democrat-led regime has unveiled plans for another hike in military spending, promising "massive investments" that will "make a big dent" in the economy. Troels Lund Poulsen, head of the Liberal Party-controlled Ministry of Defence and party chairman, declared the need to “strengthen the bulwark,” though his bombast conceals the true aim: appeasing Washington and its erratic far-right supreme leader leader Donald Trump, rather than countering Russia.

Last year at his party's congress, Poulsen demanded an additional DKK 300 billion by 2033, atop a DKK 200 billion boost already agreed upon. Now, without offering specifics, he hints at even greater spending, citing Arctic militarization as a necessity. Although he won't be specific, Poulsen is promising Danes that "large and tough economic prioritizations" lies ahead.

Although the regime is invoking a non-specified Russian menace, this frenzy most likely stems from Trump’s obsession with Greenland and accusations that Denmark’s Arctic defences are inadequate to fend off Russia and China. Instead of resisting American pressure, Danish leaders mimic NATO’s calls for escalation, with Poulsen declaring the Arctic no longer a “low-tension area.”

The "Will to victory"

Denmark’s political elite, led by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, remains blindly loyal to American demands. Frederiksen’s recent New Year’s speech, full of faux-folkish sentimental platitudes and celebrity name-dropping, stated that the world was getting more dangerous and reserved that "it would be expensive" before she called for the “will to victory” in response to the claimed Russian menace with no mention of diplomacy or alternatives to militarization. Meanwhile, state and corporate media dutifully amplifies the regime’s agenda, drowning out dissent and leaving the public convinced that the military buildup is necessary as public funds are funnelled into expensive American weapons, leaving schools, welfare, and the cost-of-living crisis unaddressed.

Critics within the political elite quibble over details rather than question the premise. Neoliberal and libertarian factions wants more details on the costing of the proposed spending and wants to wait for the American NATO pact to issue its dictates for Danish military capabilities before committing, but none challenge the militaristic fervor or suggest de-escalation.

The Price of Subservience

With the American NATO pact's figurehead recently demanding that American satellite states reserves 3.7% of GDP for the military and Trump’s ludicrous 5% target looming, Denmark appears eager to sacrifice its economy to imperialist ambitions. Poulsen openly acknowledges the “tough” sacrifices civilians must endure, prioritizing Arctic militarization over domestic welfare. Denmark’s leaders seem trapped in a delusional loyalty to Washington, leaving ordinary Danes to bear the cost of their fanatical Atlanticism.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announces a 25% tax on all products imported from the United States. Petro also ordered the expansion of exports to the rest of the world, “except to the US”.

“Colombia has now stopped looking to the north, to look to the world,” says Gustavo Petro, President of Colombia. He threatens to tax the United States by 50%.

Gustavo Petro is due to call Brazilian President Lula da Silva to discuss the United States' commercial position on Latin America. One of the possibilities is to secure Colombia's entry into the BRICS.

Milei government wants to remove femicide from Argentina's Penal Code

**President Javier Milei's government wants to strip femicide from Argentina's Penal Code, eliminate non-binary IDs and remove quotas for disabled and trans people. **

President Javier Milei’s government announced Friday that it will seek to eliminate the concept of “femicide” from Argentina’s Penal Code. The move is part of a wider push to eliminate all legislation that encourages what officials describe as “positive discrimination.” The government says the push is a move to ensure equality before the law.

“We are going to eliminate the figure of femicide from the Argentine Criminal Code. Because this administration defends the equality before the law enshrined in our National Constitution. No life is worth more than another,” said the Minister of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libarona, on his account on the X network. Cúneo Libarona on Friday described the concept of femicide, which was added to the Penal Code in December 2012, as “a distortion of the concept of equality.”

Cúneo Libarona is accused of killing his wife in the 90s but nothing happened with this.

According to the code, femicide is defined as “a crime of murder perpetrated by a man against a woman in the context of gender violence" and convictions normally receive harsher sentences. On its website, Argentina’s Public Prosecutor’s Office says the crime is rooted in a “social system that ... preserves the social orders of power, control and oppression of men over women.” The concept was introduced in 2012, although not explicitly, via a law that modified Article 80 of Argentina’s Penal Code.

The news comes one day after Milei angrily attacked the “cancer” of “wokeism” – a term used by the far right to refer to progressive policies targeting social inequalities – in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “The mental virus of woke ideology,” declared Milei, is “an epidemic which is destroying the foundations of Western civilisation.”

“Feminism, equality, gender ideology, climate change, abortion and immigration are all heads of the same monster, whose aim is to justify the advance of the state,” said the La Libertad Avanza leader.

In his speech, Milei argued that the concept of femicide legalises “in fact, that the life of a woman is worth more than that of a man.”

(No it does not lmfao)

“As President Javier Milei said in Davos [this week], feminism is a distortion of the concept of equality that only seeks privileges by setting one half of the population against the other,” agreed Cúneo Libarona, who said in an interview last July had stated that tackling gender violence was an “absolute priority” for the government. In order to amend Argentina's Penal Code, the Milei administration must pass a law through Congress, where the ruling party is in a minority. Opposition lawmakers would likely rally against any such change.

“The fact of killing a woman does not take you directly into femicide … you have to have killed her because she is a woman,” said criminal lawyer Gastón Francone in comments to the AFP news agency. “This aggravating factor … is different from killing a man because he is a man,” said Francone, who pointed out that the maximum sentence for a homicide without aggravating circumstances is 25 years, while life imprisonment for a femicide can be up to 50 years. Data tracked by the government and several NGOs show that on average one woman is murdered for gender-related reasons every 30 hours.

Argentina recorded 255 femicides last year.

‘Positive discrimination’

According to reports, Milei’s government is also planning to tackle a number of other progressive pieces of legislation as it ramps up its “cultural battle” against “wokeism.” The “equality before the law” push is said to be led by Strategic Planning Secretary María Ibarzabal Murphy and a team headed by top presidential advisor Santiago Caputo. It targets all regulations that guarantee “differential treatment before the law,” said government sources.

Among other measures under consideration is the elimination of non-binary national identity cards (DNIs), which were introduced in 2021, and the so-called “trans quota,” which establishes that the state must reserve at least one percent of jobs for transgender people. The Noticias Argentinas news agency reported Friday that the Milei government would like to repeal the Gender Identity Law (Nº 26.743), the Law for the Promotion of Access to Formal Employment for Transvestites, Transsexuals and Transgender ‘Diana Sacayán - Lohana Berkins’ (Nº 27. 636), the Law on Electoral Parity in Areas of Political Representation (Nº 27.412) and some aspects of the Micaela Law (Nº 27499), amongst others.

The Milei government also discussed the repeal of a labour quota for persons with disabilities (Nº 22.431), which obliges the state to ensure that persons with disabilities have the right to work, but the idea was dropped. Back in November, Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni stated that “Argentina does not admit prerogatives of blood, birth or religion: all its inhabitants are equal before the law.”

(No they're not equal before the law lmfao)

“The National Government will provide the necessary measures to eliminate any ideological and discriminatory policy that enables the entry to public employment by criteria other than those specifically related to the suitability of individuals,” he concluded.

Davos denunciation

Milei’s appearance at Davos and remarks online may land him in hot water. At least two legal complaints have been filed against Argentina’s President, accusing him of threats, incitement to violence and abuse of authority, among other offences.

One was filed by the Federación Argentina de Lesbianas, Gays, Bisexuales y Trans (FALGBT) and is before the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court 3, headed by Judge Daniel Rafecas. Milei was also denounced by the lawyer Gregorio Dalbón, along with secretary general of ATE Capital stateworkers’ union, Daniel Catalano, and former national deputy Myriam Bregman.

FALGBT said in its complaint that Milei “has initiated an escalation of violence towards various groups and social groups, under the pretext of embodying a “cultural battle.” “However, as the months have gone by, this aggressive attitude has become more and more radical until it has turned into concrete threats that would constitute actions of public intimidation, incitement to collective violence, incitement to hatred and discrimination,” argued the group.

In comments to Perfil, FALGBT president María Rachid denounced that “President Milei's entire speech is a compilation of threats, intimidation, violence and discrimination.” “To use a gay couple who committed abuse as an example to say that those of us who defend LGBT rights – which he calls ‘gender ideology’ – are paedophiles, is like saying that those who defend the rights of heterosexuals are paedophiles because of a case of sexual abuse of a heterosexual person or couple, as most cases are. Even given that fact, it would not be logical to say so,” she argued.

“Milei pointed against the ‘lefties’ who defend the ‘gender ideology’, that is, those of us who defend the rights of women and diversity, and the ‘woke ideology,’ which is nothing more than those who fight against injustice, racism, patriarchy and care for the environment,” said Rachid. During his Davos speech, Milei railed against the trans community and made reference to a case of child sexual abuse in the United States, which he then suggested was linked to the homosexual community.

Hours later, in a post on social media, he slammed “shitty lefties” and warned them he would “go after them to the farthest corners of the planet” – a clear threat.

He did this while defending my-hero after he did the nazi salute.

Dalbón made the same point in his criminal complaint against Milei, stating that “saying that he is going to look for all of us who think differently, to the last corner, is a crime.”

In comments to Noticias Argentinas, Dalbón confirmed that the complaint in Argentina, based on the publication that the President wrote yesterday on his social networks, was filed with federal judge Daniel Rafecas and that the prosecutor in the case will be Paloma Ochoa. Additionally, the complaint will be filed with the Criminal Court in The Hague and the Inter-American Convention on Human Rights, said Dalbón. “I believe that the case should be investigated, to investigate the President and to ask him what he wants to do with Argentina and with this single way of thinking. Incitement to collective violence, practically saying that he is going to look for all of us who think differently from him, to the farthest corners of the world, is a crime,” he said.

Venezuelan prosecutors claim to have dismantled the criminal organization Aragua Train, framed by Trump as 'terrorist'. The group operates in different Latin American countries and in the United States.

Venezuela's Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, confirmed on Wednesday that the criminal Wilexis Acevedo, Venezuela's Most Wanted, accused of various crimes such as murder, robbery and extortion, was killed during a security operation. Special police forces, assisted by the Colectivos (Civil Armed Left-Wing Group), clashed with Wilexis and his gang.

ICE Conducts Over 460 Arrests of Undocumented Immigrants in First Hours of Trump’s Second Term - Telesur English

Article

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of more than 460 undocumented immigrants within the first 33 hours of Donald Trump’s second presidential term. According to a report obtained by Fox News Digital, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division carried out these arrests between midnight on January 21 and 9:00 a.m. on January 22. The detained individuals reportedly include those with criminal records for offenses such as sexual assault, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, drug and weapons charges, resisting arrest, and domestic violence.

The arrests involve nationals from various countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal, and Venezuela.

During his campaign, President Trump criticized the Democratic administration for what he described as orchestrating an “invasion of the United States” by reducing border security. He also repeatedly suggested imposing the death penalty on undocumented immigrants who commit murder against U.S. citizens or law enforcement officers.

In a related move, the White House announced that President Trump had ordered the Pentagon to deploy an additional 1,500 military personnel to the southern border to address illegal crossings.

The Washington Post, citing information from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, reported that this additional deployment could increase to 10,000 troops, supplementing the approximately 2,500 military personnel allocated to border management under former President Joe Biden.

This rapid and large-scale operation underscores President Trump’s commitment to stricter immigration policies, a cornerstone of his presidency. These early actions signal an aggressive approach to border security and deportation enforcement, likely marking a significant shift from the policies of the previous administration.

Critics argue that such measures could further strain relations with neighboring countries and humanitarian organizations, while proponents view the crackdown as a necessary step to restore order and security along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump's office said that "the largest deportation in the history of the United States has already begun," Bild reports. According to the US President's press secretary Caroline Levitt, 538 illegal immigrants have already been detained. Recall that one of Trump's first orders was to declare a state of emergency on the Mexican border and send additional troops there. He promises to expel "millions" of illegal migrants.

The Russian Air Force appears to be conducting preparations for another large scale air raid/long range air attack soon. Strategic bomber aircraft such as the Tu-95M (carries the Kh-101 long range cruise missile) and Tu-22M (carries the Kh-32/22 supersonic high altitude cruise missile) have been repositioned at Engels-2 airbase, and transport aircraft such as the IL-76 are making deliveries of presumably ordinance to these air bases. Russian MiG-31K aircraft (carries the Kinzhal ALBM) and the Su-57 stealth aircraft (carries the Kh-69 stealth cruise missile), along with the Black Sea Naval fleet (ships that launch Kalibr cruise missiles) are also conducting practice/training missions. Geran-2/Shahed-136 drone activity has also increased. All this activity has occurred in the last week or so. This is all indicative of a Russian strike happening soon, the only thing that's missing is a Ukrainian/USA directly assisted ATACMS attack on Russian soil.

The sources for this information, as per usual, are compiled from Ukrainian and Russian air raid channels. AMK Mapping on Twitter and telegram does of good job of compiling these sources into English language posts.

Another thing to note is that there has been increased ballistic missile activity by Russia since the beginning of this year, with some videos of the strikes looking different to the typical Iskander-M strike. We already know that Russia has used the North Korean version of the Iskander, the Kn-23, in their strikes since January 2024. But could some of these new strikes be using other types of ballistic missiles, such as the North Korean KN-15, which was spotted in Russia last month, or even the rumoured Iranian ballistic missile deliveries of Fateh, Zoheir and Zulfiqar? That is a possibility which cannot be ruled out.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro is launching the “Brother, come home” Program to support Honduran migrants in the U.S. The Honduran government says it will coordinate with the United States to ensure a safe and orderly return that respects the dignity and human rights of migrants.

Foreign Minister of Honduras met with Dogu to coordinate efforts and cooperation for the orderly, safe and dignified return of migrants and says all Hondurans are welcome in their homeland. The Honduran right is upset that Marco Rubio won't be visiting Honduras on his Central America trip (nor Nicaragua). Foreign Minister says Marco is visiting countries which “recognize” the Venezuelan opposition: “we recognize the government of President Nicolás Maduro.”

Marco Rubio will make his first trip as secretary of state to Central America. He'll be visiting Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama and Dominican Republic, all of which have been and will continue to be key allies of Washington.

It's at best suspicious that so many mainstream and alternative media commentators spun these governments as progressive, leftist, and/or moderate in recent years. It's overtly clear where Abinader, Nayib and the others stand: with Washington.

Colombia's President Gustavo Petro: Irregular U.S. citizens in Colombia must report to immigration services. "There are 15,660 Americans established in Colombia in an irregular manner. They should approach our immigration service to regularize their situation. I hope that the dialogue on Darien is not frozen. If there is no regularization, illegalities will increase. We already saw it when the U.S. blocked Venezuela and caused the migratory wave to explode. The dignity of Colombia and Latin America comes first. Migrants are human beings and subjects of rights and should be treated as such."

Petro says 15,666 illegal U.S. immigrants in Colombia, under Colombian law, must regularize their stay: "U.S. citizens who wish may stay in Colombia, I believe in human freedom. But more than 15,666 are irregular and by Colombian law they must regularize their stay."

"You will never see me burning a gringo flag or making a “ratzia” to return the handcuffed illegals to the USA. Real libertarians will never assault human freedom. We are the opposite of Nazis." Mexico and Colombia deny landing authorization to planes carrying deported US citizens.

The US Embassy in Colombia has announced that it will no longer issue visas after President Gustavo Petro refused to accept flights with illegal Colombians on US soil. There are more than 10,000 US military personnel in Colombia. The US presence in the country is seen as strategic, given the tension between the USA and Venezuela.

Brazil claims that the flight that landed in Manaus was in a precarious situation, with a breakdown in the air conditioning and was not authorized to continue on to Belo Horizonte.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian government is going to ask for explanations about the use of handcuffs on the deportees' hands and feet and says that there has been a violation of the agreement between the two countries. The Brazilian government reports that its citizens were assaulted, threatened and humiliated by US Security Forces.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, disallowed the use of chains and handcuffs on Brazilians deported by the US - and asked for an Airforce flight to transport them from Manaus to Confins. The order came from President Lula, who says that this is a question of sovereignty and that no one in Brazil puts Brazilians in chains. The information was confirmed to the blog by sources in the Ministry of Justice.

In a press release, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security said that Ricardo Lewandowski had instructed the Federal Police to receive the Brazilians and ordered the authorities and representatives of the US government to immediately remove the handcuffs.
