While yes Republicans have more pedos, the objective of this kind of stuff is only secondarily to kill pedos. The prime objective is to target LGBT people, who have been relentlessly targeted as “groomers” for the past decade or so.
Any time Republicans talk about sexual crimes, you need to remember that they consider being queer a sexual crime and a grown man fucking a teenager to be normal. Interpret everything they say through that lens.

I remember shortly after I voted Fidesz, I had to learn the hard way that the right doesn't actually care about protecting children, but persecuting gays. Hungary had (and still has) an epidemic of teen girls being groomed en masse by older and rich men. However, Fidesz claims those girls are "being saved from poverty", while for the same "crime" (unfortunately not legally, as our AoC is 14), gay people get called out, and unfortunately their whole community get shunned for daring to request that kids should be taught sex ed.
