Cat TV

Edit: I hope I come back as a spoiled house cat.

One down. One to go which I'll get some help with.

Gibson is living like a queen. 👑

Garden bed cleared and dosed with a bit of dyn. lifter, slow release P and K. More soil coming tm to top it up. Ends up being a 1m x 8m.

Also won the NO STATICE argument quite convincingly. All gone!

Feels good to see a fresh bed.

Lemon tree at the end stays.

Is it just me or is it really humid? I feel fat and sassy.

I can relate lol

Just got my marks back from my last assignment for my hated subject. I somehow managed a distinction, which means I might have managed an overall distinction for the subject (if not it is a credit). Not too bad considering I avoided doing anything I didn't have to for the subject and left everything to the last minute.

Ahh the joys of being able to fit into kids clothes. People might make fun of me for being short but I can get cheaper clothes and shoes.

They have better designs too

Bunny has been missing a whole week. I found it stuffed in between the couch cushions. Somebody is very happy. He has been licking it for the last 10 minutes.

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Nitwits setting off fireworks again. The cat's hiding. Not a good week for pets.

They’re been going off since boxing day in my hood. Apparently you gotta do multiple test runs for NYE 🙄

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

At the last place, we had someone set them off at like 2am on Christmas day. It was bloody annoying, but at the same time, the morbid part of my mind cracked up at the idea of all the oldies in that area being woken up at 2am to the sound of explosions. The sort of thing that's not funny, but is also, kind of funny

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Got some chronic boredom. Nothing holds my attention and I don't want to do anything, but I want some stimulation. Don't want to watch anything though.

I hate this state of being. A weird mental limbo.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago

Probably understimulation. Maybe pace around to some music for a while, chew some gum. Play a computer game while listening to something

There's a post on r/cats where somebody installed a fisheye camera on a cat feeder bowl. The results are absolutely hilarious. Link

Morning gang. On a very quiet tram into the city for work. There's a girl in an oodie with a little kitten nestled inside meowing 🥰

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 8 points 6 months ago (11 children)

What's everyone doing tomorrow night?

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 8 points 6 months ago

I doubt I'll have the capacity to stay up until midnight. Too used to early starts with work.

If I'm splinter free I might do a celebratory pizza. If there are still any finger issues I'll have a consolation risotto instead.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 7 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

I'm just staying home. I bought some ginger beers, and will probably watch the fireworks on my phone (on that note - tomorrow nights DT will be early)

Can't be arsed going on a train and being puked on by people who've had a few too many, or nearly been blown up by fireworks again

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Well, you've had some interesting NYEs haven't you?

Very little. Might go up to Ruckers Hill and watch the fireworks from a safe distance. There's some raised platforms in the local parks that are good viewpoints too. Spoiled for choice really. Other than that probably nothing much. Have some celebratory food planned, and the peaches on my mini tree are just coming up ripe so might have a peach fest before the bats discover them. At least the weather looks like being fairly mild so maybe not so many drunken revellers finding their way home by braille as last year.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago

I'll watch the fireworks

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

One of my friends throws a house party every year. He goes to a lot of effort. It’s close to home, only people I like are there, great food (there’s a spit, desserts), lots of drinking and dancing. It’s a really good note for bringing in the new year.

If it wasn’t for this party every year, I’d probably just stay home. I find NYE out overrated, all this pressure to have a great night, usually very crowded and $$. Did the city one year, never again.

Todays adventure involved lunch at The Boot Factory with the Minipeelers before seeing Vengeance Most Fowl. Was a very pleasant afternoon's entertainment. Now at home and feel like a nap before cooking grilled chicken, which I have to do because the Minipeelers found a garlic aioli and Cholula they want to try 🤤

There's a rough/homeless bloke that hangs around La Trobe x Elizabeth in the city. He's assaulted me twice now, once with use of actual force, and tonight I've just spotted him emptying a recycling bin and spreading the contents across La Trobe St.

The cops have a police report from when he punched me, but they simply don't care enough (or perhaps don't "have enough resources") to look at the photo I sent them and actually hunt him down knowing his regular location.

The cunt's an absolute menace and he's very angry, all the time. He's gonna seriously injure someone. I just give him a wide berth.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I’m so sorry dude. I fucking hate when they get aggressive because there’s not a lot you can do to deescalate or help their situation and then you’re left calling the cops. (And getting assaulted.)

I spent a lot of time calling psych triage services and homeless outreach and the cops… what finally worked was some cops finally agreed to come for a welfare check and the guy outside my house skulked off. Touch wood.

Please just do what you can to keep yourself safe

I've made an appointment for the doctor tomorrow, hopefully he will be able to evict this last stubborn bit of wood from my finger and I will be able to start the new year splinter free!

I think the stick can definitely be counted the winner in that little altercation - including tomorrow that will be four doctor visits, one tetanus injection, two boxes of antibiotics and nearly a week off work for me, vs being slightly jostled in the garden for the stick.

That person who let me borrow their portable air con swing by today. Old unit. Reckon it's about as old as me, but it is indeed blowing out very cold air. Unfortunately all my windows are basically floor to ceiling, so I'm gonna need to cut some cardboard and tape it over the fly screen to stop more outside air coming in. And it's just my luck I've lost my duct tape in the move, so I'm gonna have to make do with very thin cello tape

Anyway, very thankful for something. My electricity bill is not going to be, but I'm hoping I might be able to convince the landlord to take the gov up on their rebates for decommissioning gas heaters and install a split system in its place, even if that means offering to cover part of the costs

air con

Edit: I couldn't make it work so I've had to just sit it out my bedroom door and hope for the best. It's probably just creating more heat, but at least if I sit in front of it, it's bearable until evening when I can open doors and windows

I'll be honest, I've still done an embarrassing amount of u packing. Today's big thing was moving the TV stand into the living room. Can't put the TV there yet, because I previously had it mounted to the wall in the last place, and have misplaced the screws for the stand

Still a lot of boxes though. I want to at minimum clear the benches tonight cause I feel embarrassed having randos come in to an unkempt house. I wouldn't call it dirty, but sometimes disorganized can feel just as messy

When they get here, I'm going to ask nicely if they can try and figure out where the bloody thing got in. They're just here for a "carcass removal", not to bait or anything, so perhaps our of their job description. But maybe if I ask nicely they won't mind having a 5 minute look

Day trip on the train to Geelong again. Will bring back pics of the beach and botanic gardens 🙂

Pulling out a bunch of statice today from the patio g-bed and adding / re-doing the soil. Mass planted a few years ago. I'll keep them pots for a bit in case they go back in but secretly I hope they don't make it. They're a real bugger when weeds / grass starts growing through them. I can't say I'm a huge fan of mass planting (except chilli heh). Much prefer a bit of colourful chaos.

So I'm going to push for a hyper varied bed. It's raised about waist height, about 1m x 6m and has the watering system feeding it so heaps of different stuff could go in pretty much hands off. Lets see how we go.
