Lmao, they get a pay raise when the minimum wage is brought up to where it's supposed to be with inflation. Maybe they could all get roommates and make it a reality show?

They should turn their offices into dorms instead. It is a problem that someone that can't afford a residence at home and in DC basically can't be a politician on the national stage. It's hard to argue these lawmakers deserve more pay though. Maybe a subsidy based on need, but I bet the guy interviewed would oppose that option

I lived in a very comfortable and cozy officer barracks at Camp Humphrey in South Korea. About 400sqft. Had a living room, bedroom, full bathroom, full kitchen, and I lived by myself. The building housed a couple hundred people, all in single occupancy. I don't see why any congressperson needs anything more than that when they shouldn't be staying there 3/4 of their term.

There are a couple military installations around the DC area if you're worried about securing a bunch of politicians in a single area instead of dispersed. Maybe living on post they will realize how terrible some junior enlisted barracks are and actually spend some defense money on the service members that need it the most.

I'd rather the government give them a place to stay at tax payer expense than give them more than the minimum wage of the state they represent.

Personally speaking I think all federal offices should be held at federal minimum wage, that way those offices that are doing the voting are impacted by the decisions they are making. It disgust me that they're making the argument of yes we're making $174,000 a year but think of our life circumstances, when the federal minimum wage is still $15,000 a year full time.

Or like one other person said, having their cost of living paid for by the government and having the federal minimum wage salary would be okay as well
