Welcome to c/electoralism! politics isn't just about voting or running for office, but this community is.

Please read the Chapo Code of Conduct and remember...we're all comrades here.

Shitposting in other comms please!

MODERATORS

put all of your election posting here so it doesn't bother anyone else!

from @CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net:

For Agitprop purposes, I’m asking comrades to help aggregate any and all effortpost responses, critiques, or general thoughts that you have seen or written pertaining to yesterday’s U.S. election that you think have standalone value for discussion either online or IRL.

I made a post for that purpose here, and ideally it can be used not only for general discussion, but as a reference for well thought out responses in discussions about the election to save all of us some brainpower.

No shitposts please, as we’d like to highlight some comrades’ actual effort in constructing responses or analysis, but humor is 100% welcome to help make your point!

I voted Cornel West for president earlier today (PSL was not on the ballot here). I've now voted for left-wing minor party/independent presidential candidates in all six of the presidential elections that I've voted in. Never had any regrets about any of those votes either.

By the way, this could be the first presidential election since 2008 where left-wing minor party and independent presidential candidates get more combined votes than the Libertarians. Will be interesting to see...

My boss (libbed up): I don't want to live in 1938 Germany because of a certain candidate

Me trying to not shout something like "we already live in the Fourth Reich motherfucker": well ya know the government is already dysfunctional and a lot stuff is handled by states and we can't be sure what he'll be able to do

Me on my fringe communist forum: they're both fascists anyway so who cares. the corporations are just going to get the raw brutality they want regardless.

I don't care who wins the presidential election but I'm really pulling for my one good local DSA dem to remain in the state assembly, voting for her in the primary against her AIPAC backed challenger was the only good thing to come out of me being registered as a dem so I hope she can stay

Like she's legit the only dem I'm voting for and she deserves to win for opposing the genocide and just having consistently good policy

The betting odds aggregators currently have Trump at 56% chance to win, Harris at 43%.

Trump is probably gonna take the win, and liberals everywhere will go on overdrive scapegoating russia, the green party, and muslim americans.

We'll see A LOT of meltdown posts, then after a month or so, liberals will start to point fingers at themselves and start shitfights with each other, and also act like they supported Palestine all along. Nothing breeds dissent like defeat.

Bernie Sanders wins fourth term in Vermont, defeating Republican Gerald Malloy

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., won reelection Tuesday, defeating Republican Gerald Malloy and securing his fourth term in the U.S. Senate. At 83, Sanders will continue his decades-long career in Washington with another six-year term.

Known as a leading progressive, Sanders has championed policies like Medicare for All and a higher federal minimum wage. First elected to the U.S. House in 1991, Sanders moved to the Senate in 2007 and ran for president in 2016 and 2020.

Though he is an Independent, Sanders is expected to continue caucusing with the Democratic Party.

You should go to a retirement home instead

I've had a pretty bad day so I decided to tune into the Majority Report live show just now for some schadenfraude, and they're talking to liberal caller who sounds of the verge of tears, who keeps asking how do we know Trump even won democratically, how will we ever know when Democrats are gracious losers and too respectful to check? and then goes on to insist that while he agrees that "we need to get organised" it's important to remember that it "doesn't have to mean joining an organisation" and can just be personal little things.

Democrats managed to lose an unlosable election even worse than they did in 2016. I almost feel bad for the liberals who wasted their vote on such a horribly mismananaged political party that has proven it's just as bad at campaigning as it is at opposing republicans

Harris cannot lose Pennsylvania and reach 270 electoral votes. However, she can lose pieces of the blue wall — so named for its longtime reputation as a Democratic firewall — and still reach 270.

If she loses Michigan, she can make it up by winning Arizona and Nevada. She can lose Wisconsin and make up for it with Arizona.

PennsylOver?

It's truly baffling that people could look historically at US elections and unequivocally say "When people are concerned about the economy, the incumbent party doesn't do well...........................................but this election it'll be different!" top-cop

The fact that the campaign didn't distance themselves from Biden will truly be studied for generations (who am I kidding, it probably won't)
