At this point, I am convinced that every anon is a late Gen z with elder millennial parents that anon really wanted to not understand internet culture

So many people think that memes are entirely made for shitposting. Memeology have taught me that some memes are wholesome.

Disagree. But as a parent, I'll totally meme along if that's what my kids need to connect.

I have my parents on Matrix (previously Signal, Skype, MSN Messenger) with a separate group chat just for memes.

After decades they still know nothing about memes so it's just meme-adjacent funnies & maybe sometimes news/research papers.

how do you manage to get them to switch often? I moved friends and fam to signal but I don't think we can manage one more tech move

Literally just install the app & give them credentials (or sometimes make an account with them), no asking or selling, just presenting the new fact of life.
(Tho I still preach about foss and how privacy isn't just for them, but for moral reasons of not giving megacorps more power because they never use it for good)

"For you nothing is actually different, just the apps icon is different now."

I also keep group names & profile pics the same.

I mean, from noob user pov what even is the difference?
