I feel you. We had a dog and a cat both lose their hearing. It was tough, ngl. We think we mitigated some of it by giving them extra cuddles and attention. The hardest part was adjusting our actions so that we didnโ€™t unnecessarily surprise them while they were looking away or asleep.

I've been learning this the hard way recently ๐Ÿ˜ญ

When my old girl went deaf she started to be unbothered by a lot of stuff she was deathly afraid of. She hated storms and always began shivering all over when one hit.

At the end she enjoyed sitting on the sofa and watching the rain through the living room window even when it was pouring. So it wasn't all bad.

๐Ÿ’— I've been telling myself the same things. My dog would lose his mind when fireworks were going off, so this will be his first peaceful Halloween. He also sleeps way more now, undisturbed by the comings and goings around the house, dreaming and secure. So I'm trying to be positive!

We taught our dog some sign language when we noticed he was losing his hearing. He's completely deaf now, but recognizes the signs for walk, water, food, and home. Works great!

I will definitely look into this! Thank you for the idea.

The good news is dogs are uniquely in tune to other cues like body language. He'll still know!

If you do it super low and guttural he might still feel the vibrations of the sounds you make with your voice
