We're getting a late start. Been a rough couple of days. Late Night with the Devil is still the next thing on the list, so hopefully tonight or tomorrow. I'll edit this comment for LNwtD

I finally watched Evil Dead Rise today.
Pretty decent, I liked the effects a lot with a ton of gore. Not amazing though.

I agree. I think it’s fine but overrated. Glad I’m not the only one.

I'm going to be watching 28 Days Later, again. I enjoyed the first watch.

I'll probably watch 28 Weeks Later, The Cabin in the Woods, Pandorum, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Hereditary, Alien, and The Descent as well.

I tried "I saw the TV glow" and was bored to tears. Though that pink opaque show looked awesome. Bliss was really good though

Oof. That one was a struggle. I liked a couple aspects of it but honestly I don’t think I could enjoy it at a runtime any longer than about 15 minutes.

"A Night In The Lonesome October" by Roger Zelazny.

Chapter 1 starts on October First and the last chapter is Halloween night. The narrator is Jack the Ripper's loyal dog, whose master has the grim task of periodically slaughtering the innocent in order to keep Certain Things quiet. Mad scientists, grave robbers, a witch, a vampire, and at least one werewolf are also in the picture.

I watched Starve Acre earlier this week. Really enjoyed it. Read a couple of reviews after that bemoaned the relative lack of scares, but it's pretty faithful to the book and has good atmosphere.

Thoughts

You'll Never Find Me, A Wounded Fawn, Post Mortem, and Beezel were unexpected finds. It's What's Inside was expected to be good, and was still quite fun. Luz... was notably weird but probably workable. We'll keep that around.

Strange Darling was awful. Big disappointment there, based on talk. We didn't expect much from VHS Beyond, especially with the alien theme, but one always hopes for anthologies to pull some surprises. Like most of VHS 2 and on, at least it wasn't worse.

Freaky - I loved this movie. A slasher based on Freaky Friday. Good kills, great humor. Was not expecting Vince Vaughn but he fucking killed it (no pun intended). I definitely have a horror movie type: comedy slashers. Maybe now I will actually get to Late Night with the Devil. I hadn't actually planned on watching this one, it just happened

October 2nd: Shaun of the Dead (20th Anniversary) on the iSense screen (which is overkill but why not?) - one of my favourite films and it never gets old, you just get an increased appreciation for how tight the script is (the home video commentary track goes into this a lot), as well as the quality of the direction and the acting.
