I honestly think she's an idiot. Not in a "stupid tories" sort of way, but in a genuinely low intelligence way.

Anyway, if only she was correct.

Waitibg for the headline "Comedian to retire her Liz Truss character."

Any day now.

Maybe the real Liz Truss, but never Liv Struss!

Highly recommend if you haven't seen her sketches yet: https://youtube.com/@nerineskinner

The UK it's already socialist, says woman who totally understands how the economy works.

It starts off funny, and they you remember that these are the out of touch arseholes running the fucking country (she seems to be refusing to fuck off, but also even if she did, she's far from the only right winged wanker who genuinely believes this shit).

Her level of delusion is remarkable.

It's not just self-delusion, which is frighteningly common among our political class (and at which she also excels), but a thoroughly complete delusion about the entire universe around her.

I'm not sure I can name an equivalent from the left. The sort of folks who might be so completely wrong about everything are consigned to the minor socialist and communist parties, never making it close to the mainstream — though perhaps some echoes of an equivalent delusion are present among the new crop of independent MPs.

I'm actually growing fond of seeing it. Not her, of course, but of her place in our political discourse. Her conduct on election night was hilarious, and her flirtations with American politics in particular since have been wild. I'd rather she go away entirely, but in a perverse way I'm glad she's providing such entertainment.

The left has people like this: tankies. Shallow loyalists who don't really grasp that reality exists beyond who-says. It's just - people in that mindset are endemic to the right, because a hierarchy-driven worldview maps neatly onto consolidating power and mumble mumble it'll work out for the best, whereas you have to go pretty far around the bend to make it fit egalitarian self-direction.

Leftists and progressives have their crazies. The right puts them in charge.

the internet and americanisation ruined the country.

[Sarcasm] Oh well, if Liz Truss says it, it must be true!

[-] kbal@fedia.io 9 points 5 days ago

Congratulations on your successful revolution, Britain! I must've missed the news when it happened, amidst all the gossip about the latest Donald Trump tweets.

Useless fascist desperately grasps for relevance.

Everyone talks about her but I think about the complete fucking losers working for her, following her around. The people walking with her in the picture, begging to be snapped with her. What a bunch of sorry individuals

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
