You guys remember your first book?

Yeah, it was about a hamster called Grignotin

No idea what it was called and it was only 45 years later I found out that "grignoter" is French for "to nibble"

Probably some children's book I can't remember. The earliest book I remember reading by myself would be one of this series (in Polish) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomek_in_the_Land_of_Kangaroos?wprov=sfla1

This one was also a popular children's book, but I think it was read to me by my mother https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademia_pana_Kleksa_%28novel%29?wprov=sfla1

First memory of books that made me a voracious li'l reader were the Selby series by Duncan Ball.

Pre-consciousness I'm told it was The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Story and the Big Hungry Bear 🐻

That I finished and enjoyed for myself? Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan. I still like the series, I had at the time the first book of HP and wasnt interested and there where no movies if I remember correctly. Then I devoured darren shan's books, HP and the rest is history

First book I'm certain that I read front-to-back was the first HP book when I was 16.

The book that actually triggered a love of reading in me was the Dark Elf trilogy in the Dungeons and Dragons world.

The book that then grabbed me for serious reading was 1984.
