The article didn't really provide an answer, so let me try: because their whole worldview is based on actively seeking things to be freaked out, offended and enraged by, and constantly playing the victim?
Also because they didn’t know it was a performance of The Feast of Dionysus and not The Last Supper.
Not just any feast either, a Feast of the Greek Gods. You know, Greece, where the Games were created. Predating Christianity's existence entirely.
Because they're old, and weird.
and kinda creepy
Be careful with this assumption. There are a lot of young conservatives out there that have been brainwashed into being just as fervent. I had a 23 year old guy working for me that I was making progress with, but it took a lot of patience on my part. You have to slowly walk them through the cognitive dissonance that they have been force fed their entire life.
He's moved on to a different company now and I worry that all the progress we made will be lost ☹️.
I hear ya. I know they're not all old, and I know they are not all weird. I'm just amused that it seems that such a trite + petty label is finally rankling their jimmies because all the other labels that stunningly apply to a lot of the conservatives in office don't seem to bother them in the least. As if ... they already knew about the other ones. The MAGA conservatives waste no time slinging all sorts of generalized labels, thinking that it makes them seem stronger, but in reality, it's just .... weird.
I wouldn't want anyone that old and weird to lead our country.
Mike Johnson was offended by a stereotypical French fashion show right out of Zoolander.
Mike Johnson uses Covenant Eyes software to let his son know when he watches porn. Mike Johnson is fucking weird.
because they're reactionary shitheads frightened by anything that they cannot immediately identify with on a personal level?
They need to feel attacked to forget how much they are hurting everyone else.
Because they have very small minds and an oversized amygdala. "The amygdala is the part of the brain that's most closely associated with fear, emotions, and motivation."
If they don't have an enemy to point out and rail against.. they'd start eating each other. It's messed up.
Other than a few of them (Like Mike Johnson) I don't believe that any of them really were offended by it. They just know that it's something that their donors would be offended by, and so they make a show to keep the "campaign contributions" coming.
Republicans have no convictions of their own. They're literally about power for power's sake. If suddenly Fundamentalist Christians decoded a new Dead Sea Scroll and it said Jesus was trans and therefore trans are the chosen people, Republicans would be wearing rainbow ties the very next day.
Lmao, I just watched the inauguration and they're on the screen like 20 seconds top.
