I mean what did he expect? Did he think that the community dedicated to rumors and leaks would praise the dude who reported someone for leaking something?

Was he expecting that'd he'd get a medal for it?

Not only this, the guy firmly believes that this leak will hurt Bethesda. I think "Out of touch" is the English expression to describe this

[–] Klystron@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 year ago

OH MY GOD, starfield just leaked, I bet Bill Gates is crying right now, only I can help him 😢

[–] amio@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

You can also just use "stupid motherfucker", that seems pretty appropriate, too. (For both the leaker and the other guy, as it happens)

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Uh oh, a little video game leak's gonna hurt Microsoft! xD yeah right

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

You know what's even dumber?

Giving his full legal name for this interview...

Like, that is just massively idiotic, especially with a pretty unique name. Not only did he dox himself in reddit, but people in the real world now know he's the one that did this.

He didnt report someone for leaking info or screengrabs, he reported a guy who stole dozens of copies and tried to sell them for a profit.

Fuck snitches but also guy wasnt fighting injustice, it was theft.

I dont feel much sympathy for either side.

[–] GroteStreet@aussie.zone 18 points 1 year ago

Mmyeah, 67 copies stolen to be sold, plus a stolen handgun found during the raid. Snitching isn't cool, but those charges go beyond "not cool".

... began uploading listings for additional copies of the game, including the coveted Constellation Edition complete with a custom-made NASA-punk space watch

That is a pretty sweet watch though.

2 things.

  1. It was stupid as fuck to brag about it and post your face on the internet. Wtf are you thinking? No common sense.

  2. The snitch is a self righteous asshole. Jerking himself off for telling the police about this crime. Then he also gives his full name. Again no common sense.

Both guys are idiots. They deserve each other.

That subreddit is a strange place. I once tried to post a post warning people not to overhype themselves so they could enjoy the game properly, and the post got removed. It's an echo chamber full of nutcases.

Should have seen the amount of cope on /r/overwatch. "No, they didn't make the game objectivity worse, your just cheap". Can't really go against the hivemind while in its home.

Standard Bethesda affair then.

They hated you because you told the truth

Holly shit. The comments on the article...

[–] Xenanthropy@beehaw.org 9 points 1 year ago

To anyone seeing this - don't read the comments... I've lost brain cells. It's not even an especially long article and you can tell 99% of the people commenting only read the headline lol

[–] ghostface@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

The comments were worth it, plus didn't realize the anitcher was posting in the comments

[–] Tar_alcaran@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Never read the comments, but holy crap indeed!

"Never read the comments! Just look at what they did to me!" -Just about everyone, shortly after reading the comments 😅

[–] secret301@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

People are still using reddit?

[–] mayo_cider@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why would he want to be a part of a community that's built entirely around the heinous crimes that he reported?

So that he can report more of them.
