The estimated number of 3,582 is an average figure for a population that likely ranges between 3,167 and 3,925. Tiger numbers are estimated based on the number of unique tigers captured on camera, plus an estimate of animals that may have not been photographed.

It actually looks like not all that many. Sure, there would be more deaths if there were more tigers, but we could also stop encroaching on their territory and have national parks around the world to protect their habitats. Predators are important to the food chain even if they're animals that could also attack humans.
