I just have to ask, when both candidates have espoused transphobic rhetoric, who do trans people vote for then? The end goal for both individuals is more dead trans kids.

These libs really don't give a shit about trans people. They just want you to vote for their "party". It's yet another example of how liberalism supports fascism.

I try not to assume but so far I've a good average of pointing out someone is liberal. I pointed out to one that the liberals are not the left, stop pretending and was called everything under the sun with utter vitriol. When you get down to it, they're not too far away from the MAGA they despise.

You vote for the lesser of two evils because one of the two will win no matter what you do, there's no third option that you can take -to VERY clear- on election day.

If they both want the exact same anti-trans policies (unlikely, I'm not even sure what race that might be) you can find some of the other important policies that differentiate them.

Then you fight like hell to have better options next time in the other 364 days of the year (usually 2 or more years in between). Or if you don't think democracy works do whatever it is you want to do to get your way and, unironically, godspeed.

I think the most sickening line people pull is that voting like this for a candidate is some sort of moral reflection of you. It is literally taking elections more seriously than the voters they pretend to be above. It's just 20 minutes of a random day to try and get fewer bad results than the alternative.

Here is an article with further links on that happening with either candidates espousing anti-trans view points.

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2026/09/dems-with-anti-trans-views-are-on-the-ballot-what-should-pro-trans-voters-do-with-them/

The link to the candidates in question: https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/the-guide-to-anti-trans-democrats

I am tired of human rights being considered a negotiable topic.

Edit: As well two propositions in Colorado that are anti-trans were passed. It's still an issue even with Democratic voters and I don't want people to lose sight of that.

This isn't really a response to my post...

I never said there weren't Democrats that are anti-trans. I said on election day one of the two candidates are going to win.

Edit: I suppose my one like could have been clearer. I did not mean both candidates would support any of the exact same anti-trans policies. They would have to support all of the exact same anti-trans policies. The way I worded it was vague I'll admit.

A lot of the same policies are aimed at children and gender identification. Trust me, they're the same.

Is trans equality the only thing you care about? If that goal were achieved, would you be able to rest for the next half decade with no worries in the world?

Go to the 2nd bullet point on your political dance card and vote for that.

For a person who clearly cares about gender issues, you are remarkably binary in your priorities.

[–] Lileath@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 22 hours ago

"Is not putting jews in camps the only thing you care about? Vote for Ernst Röhm, he at least doesn't want to kill all gay people."

[–] naevaTheRat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 day ago

There is strategy in making people who ignore your rights suffer. If they get you as an ally without granting you rights why would they ever grant you rights if it may cost them support or another group?

You actually should burn everyone in an unjust society.

I'm sorry that you don't view humans rights issues as that high of a priority to make it a situation you're willing to compromise on. I'm sorry I didn't say every single last thing that is a priority to me to satiate you. I don't have time to make a bulleted list of things I no longer compromise on.

[–] pimento64@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Since you're already perfectly aware that the answer is to vote for the people who openly include pro-trans candidates in their ranks, and not the people openly saying you should be either forcibly detransed or killed, I'm unsure what kind of answer you expect. I suppose you could write in Pontius Pilate since you're nearly on the cross already.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Except the Democrats have been feeling about throwing trans people under the bus and anti-trans legislation still passed despite all this. The blue wave we see has a worrying undercurrent to it that'll drown many people in its wake still.

[–] pimento64@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Good point. We should have just let the Republicans win instead.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I love we come to this point and I people like me have to point out there's no fundamental difference. Gaza would still be destroyed with an on going genocide of the Palestinian people, LGTB+ people will still see genocide. It's easy to say "harm reduction" when you're not the one being marginalized from safety.

I bet it's so awesome being this dumb

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Doesn't matter the color of the sock wearing the black boot.

[–] DylanMc6@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If only more democratic socialists would run.

[–] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I would, but being a fired cop is ballot poison.

Your choice

  • fighting during a Republican presidency with hundreds of thousands of angry democrats who don’t like a rude guy disrupting their brunch

  • fighting alone during a Democrat presidency while democrats call you Russian or Chinese or claiming you’re trying to spoil an upcoming election that is years away

Cops will shoot and kill you regardless of which party is in charge if you are actually fighting.

Blue maga have told me the formula is simple.

Harm caused by Republicans - Harm caused by democrats = democrats are better.

You dont get to ask for representation in government, you simply make this calculation and vote accordingly. No other options or reforms will be considered. Asking for more then these two options makes you a evil communist republican nazi commie socialist. This is what they call democracy.

So glad I didn't have kids. Forever grateful to have gotten a vasectomy for those free souls that would have been imprisoned on earth. My kids will not have to suffer these people who are unfortunately my fellow US citizens. They won't have to go to work for the worst people, they wont have to pay rent to the worst people. My unborn children are safe forever from life here.

And having a dissenting opinion and views automatically makes you a tankie. I'm just tired of human rights issues being a situation we must compromise on.
