So I hereby absolve my sin of disliking turn based and FFX as I now really like the game and turn based combat. As long as its not persona its basically just a puzzle game. I didnt have to grind, didnt need a guide, didnt softlock myself, made lots of suboptimal decisions. And i was still able to complete the story comfortably with an extremely tense final boss fight akin to persona 1. Havent done all the extra content will come back later maybe.

But FFX-2 like all sequels to a mainline title is batshit. Kinda like 13-2 which takes place during the ending cutscene of 13 or lightning returns which is entirely a fever dream it seems to be where square just goes silly mode packing a game with every mechanic they can think of. The mainline titles always feel like they tow the straight and narrow, thematically very similar with a typical fantasy party journey tropes. Then the sequels are? Dynamic class switching pokemon game in the theme of charlies angels.

It also has the most boppin music like 13-2 and the sexiest UI design ever made. Anyway im playing the international iso with the v4 translation patch cos square ruined the HD version by making it look like upscaled post processless shite from pcsx2 20 years ago.
