Oh, I thought this meme was somehow related to the remote code execution bug in PHP, but turns out I missed the other calamity event yesterday.
I tried reading that but couldn't understand after 2 paragraphs and gave up. You know what? I just don't care. The world is such a shitty place. I don't care anymore
The "really long numbers" used for security had a set of middle-men that used super short numbers. Like 4.
Now most of the Internet has to change their locks.
Oh no, I thought this was a Lemmy fad like beans.
Don't say it loud, damn.
Most of Internet is built upon the principle ”A fella I trust is trusting some other guy, so I will do so too”.
Turns out anyone can easily impersonate as your trusted fella, so now that trust is meaningless. Now you need to find all IoT devices out there so you can tell them not to trust this fella anymore.
In short, everything is fucked.
I already tell all my iot devices not to trust anything outside the internal network, (well really I tell the router to not let anything outside the vlan except for specific devices on specific ports.)
So it's not everything that's fucked for me, just everything outside.
Incredible.
