Except in dune it was a hundred years long project done by a powerful cabal with magical powers.
And the messiah had literally all the best magical powers.
It certainly sharpened the edge on their pizza cutter of a pointless take. I'm a Dune enjoyer and it fucking sucks when people derive bad ideas from it.
Yeah obviously in dune it’s shown as bad because it basically kicked off the biggest genocide of all time
Some galaxy brains just nod along to the "Golden Path" and see the entire galaxy wide atrocity campaign as justified because of what was scribbled in later to justify it after Frank Herbert died. Terminal stage "means to an end" thinking.
