Agents surrounded the man and child in his car before firing multiple rounds, according to Zohran Mamdani

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot a man in New York City on Thursday afternoon, according to the city’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani.

Early reports indicated that agents had surrounded the man and a five-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds, the mayor said in a statement on Thursday evening. The child was physically unharmed, according to Mamdani.

The individual who was shot was conscious and taken to a hospital, the NYPD said in a brief statement.

This only ends when cops arrest any ice agents they see and charge them with criminal conspiracy.

We can't keep pretending this is anything else, because Trump's obviously going to step it up before the election, and then have ICE at polls to keep people away.

NYPD could do the funniest by actually protecting people and regaining some confidence from the public.

[–] TheMinister@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 weeks ago

But it’s the NYPD so they wont

[–] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 31 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

The same cops who also kill dozens of innocent people yearly?

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

Hundreds. Well over 200 unarmed people were killed by cops last year.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

They should be upset that ICE is stealing their thing.

[–] flueterflam@lemmy.world 25 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

The same police who are supplying ICE "agents"? And/or who implicitly agreeing with and ignoring the presence of ICE in their own city? I'm sure this will resolve quickly, then!

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
  1. Tell cops to arrest ICE

  2. Arrest cops who refuse with every imaginable charge

  3. Count on cops to be cowards

You're also drastically over estimating how much cops like ICE. Assholes rarely like other assholes showing up, it's a territory thing.

But like ...

What the fuck is your alternative? Just do nothing and hope it works out?

How about you go do that instead of telling people nothing will work so it's pointless?

[–] flueterflam@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I suppose you recognized the sarcasm...? But your response doesn''t match reality, regardless. Where are all the ICE arrests and/or covictions?

Even in "blue" or "purple" states, not seeing anything close to your claim... unless I'm missing something obvious?

...

I'm saying we need to do something, and your argument is we aren't doing it?

unless I’m missing something obvious?

I think the issue is being able to put a couple thoughts together, you're not missing any necessary information, you're just not putting it together

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why would a conservative arrest a conservative? It can't happen.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world -1 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Another brand new account telling people nothing will work so we shouldn't try anything?

It really is "30 days of midterms" already, isn't it?

No one is going to fall for this shit again

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Look at my comment history. I am telling people to act, and to do MUCH more than just vote. Voting is just the first step. Not erasing the enemy will result in our deaths by genocide. There is simply no peaceful way out of a conservative infestation.

As long as conservatives continue to live, they will continue to kill the normal people. We are not permitted to discuss how to stop them here on Lemmy, so use your imagination. There is no way out of this that involves this infestation continuing to exist.

It's time to be proactive in removing the problem. We must get our hands very dirty. We must be extremely aggressive and precise. We must act against our enemy independently and locally, without relying on coordination with others. Be discrete. Be merciless. Be prolific.

[–] NEZ27@lemmy.zip -1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Classic vague posting calling others to violent action

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's only vague because specific calls to action get removed and can result in a ban. Check my extensive comment history to see examples of that.

[–] NEZ27@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh I know why it's vague. I am pointing out that all these vague calls love telling other people to go do redacted shit.

If you're so insistent on fireworks then light em yourself. Quit hoping to get 'rid of a troublesome priest' in a fucking forum.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 0 points 3 weeks ago

I practice what I preach. (Within the bounds of the law, of course.)

Asking fascists to save us from fascists will not work.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca -3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There are plenty of other ways it could end, but Americans are fucking cowards.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Yes for all the bluster they have had over the decades they really are a wet towel. Protest on weekends for a couple hours. Oh there is nothing we can do. Well if that is their outlook I hope they enjoy where ever they end up.

Don't know how it ended but Mineopolos? I think at least tried not sure it accomplished their goal though.
