I met someone on lemmy doing the 14% line but for aboriginals. Literally said something along the lines of, "they are all criminals, alcoholics, and murderers who can't be assimilated". Reading through his comment history was wild, dude was genuinely arguing for segregation.
Not sure what the 14% line is but unfortunately that's extremely common. I was raised to cross the street to avoid the house.
People fucking love to pull out these reheated stories of one time a friend of a friend said he heard how some blackfella did something unforgivable like uhhh pinched a ladder or something.
Meanwhile community is shattered, overpolicing continues to shatter it, federal government has literally instructed cops fuck off and stop arresting people but they somehow just can't seem to do it despite their oh so sincere efforts.
Aboriginal people are like 400x more likely to die in hospital which is just completely unfathomable but none of the racist drop-kicks wants to engage with how that could possibly be a explained without racism.
