Yeah, politics is something we "don't talk about" in this country and people will legitimately get mad at you for even discussing it, which is something the reactionaries are very good at using, they love making a topic "political" so people don't discuss it and their viewpoint on it is just the default.
Sometimes it feels like we might end up being the world's last capitalist holdout even after the US collapses, just due to sheer indifference and people looking to blame foreigners for all our problems.
Sounds like America in the 90s and 00s
We are usually about 10-20 years behind the US when it comes to terrible ideas, so that would check out.
