Full disclosure, I did not read that. But I did see the headline.
Now that I have read that, I feel like it is a cry for help.
"If you owe the bank $100 that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million, that's the bank's problem."
J. Paul Getty
how much skin does Softbank have in this game.
Didn't they just start a partnership with one of the big US tech companies like 6 months ago or something?
Sam Altman or someone like that has probably got their tendrils in this guy's head...
They are the ones, Oracle will soon not be paying anymore, because of Force Majeure (techcrunch.com) ...
Eh, they're an evil company and all that, but the force majeure seems like a non-issue:
It just means if the development misses the contractual deadline, they don't have to pay until it comes on line. Seems reasonable to be honest, why should you be held to your end of the contract if the other party doesn't meet theirs?
The real problem here is a combination of: the environmental and ecological impacts of the data center, the impacts on the local communities, the ethics (or lackthereof) of AI and lack of regulatory oversight, and the surveillance state that they're using it to build.
Focusing your critique on the force majeure just kind of misses the point
It wasn't meant as a critique, sorry it sounded like that! I meant it more like idiotic statements like all of the tech morons are making right now.
The real critique with "AI" is elsewhere, as you rightly put it in your reply.
Ah, I see. I guess I didn't know where you were going with it then
