100%

If instead of changing the clocks we staggered working hours or even just (crazy thought) offered flexibility with start and finish times it would also massively ease pressure on infrastructure like roads and public transport.

We spend so much money trying to get capacity to a point thats only needed for like 2-4 hours per day

I agree. why do we change the clocks when its just about changing schedules.

Change everyone's work schedule?

Yeah that wouldn't go smoothly at all.

Stores that close at 9 pm tonight would close at 8 pm when we go back to "standard" time.

Someone working 1 to 9 tonight would work 12 to 8.

So instead of changing the clock, you're going to change everyone's schedule

If I ate lunch at 12 to get to work at 1, now I have to eat at 11 to get to work at 12

And the purpose is so the store closes closely to the same daylight level throughout the year?

You’re already changing your schedule, you apparently just ignore it because we’ve arbitrarily moved the clock an hour in either direction.

used to be a common thing for shops to change their hours at different times of the year.
