I was hoping with the year run-up we'd have a better alternative replacement, but alas.

Matrix is... alright. Element is fine on Linux but Element X doesn't support spoiler text on Android. Fluffychat looks really nice on Android but has buggy unread notifications. Sable is also pretty feature-rich on Android at least, but it's also a very laggy app.

Schlidinext is basically element X android but better (it's a soft fork), and supports tables and spoilers and all that
