If cops are willing to follow these orders, they'll follow any orders.
Getting rid of the politicians and flock isn't enough. We desperately need to fix our police forces "it's gonna be hard" ain't an excuse
Honestly you could probably just nuke their funding and let them bleed out, while also raising up militia to fill the void with a blacklist for cops unless they take certain actions. Ideally the militia would have relatively high standards and would be largely disarmed or otherwise equipped with less than lethal gear for daily patrols.
The old cops would form the organized mafia day one after this decision. Disarmed militia would look silly against that.
I was moreso referring to day to day patrol once things stabilized on the old cops have been dealt with, probably should've been more specific but I was firmly in migraine land and still kinda am. No in the immediate the militia should be armed to the fucken teeth as needed, on the rural scale it'd just be a technical or two for dealing with anyone stupid on the more urbanized side it'd be full on hunting the old cops with APCs if they try anything.

Current police departments can't be reformed. Can't turn an orange into an apple. They're rotten from top to bottom and within their very charter.
We'd need to replace the entire concept and everyone currently involved, with a new organization that is from the start intended to serve the people, and not the filthy rich.
"It's gonna be hard" doesn't begin to describe the task, because it can't be done in a vacuum, it would need to be part of a complete overhaul of our entire government.
Empathy and authoritarianism are diametrically opposed. No authoritarian will ever side with the people it has authority to exploit. Not comprehending this dynamic, is how your vanguard will always betray you, will always side with the next “rich.”
The solution is horizontalidad. You and I empower each other. No vanguards.

The department is a building that houses officers and equipment.
You could say the police forces can't be reformed and we need to do a 100% staffing turnover, and that would be a valid opinion.
That's also not true.
There's less than 750k cops in America as of 2024.
We'd just have to redesign police academies, require oversight, and then start pumping trainees who pass stricter background checks and qualifications they, then using them to replace existing police.
It's all very doable and wouldn't take long.
This isn't the time for learned helplessness bud, it's literally the opposite of what we need right now.
If you don't understand, ask a fucking question. Dont just spit out assumptions and opinions that only convince people it's not gonna happen before we even try
A department is an organizational structure, not just a building.
And what the other person was saying is that corruption is already entrenched in their leadership hierarchies, in their institutional knowledge, in their academies and instructor schools.
Not an easy thing to fix just by reforming their hiring practices and training...
