Finishing up Metaphor Re:Fantazio this week. I’m in the last few days of the game and have loved most of what I’ve seen. This will likely be top of my Persona series games I’ve played, just edging out P4. It might be in my top games of all time with how much I’ve enjoyed it. My only real issues with it are
Beyond that, gameplay’s great, other parts of the story are fantastic, and I look forward to another fantasy Persona game in the future. I much prefer this over contemporary story offerings. This might actually get a second playthrough given time, which says something of a triple-digit hour game.
Metaphor Re:Fantazio spoilers
the fact that everything seems to be fellating “enlightened centrism.” My biggest issue being with Catherina’s story where she’s out to combat racism and ultimately does nothing because "violence bad." Also, “stealing bad” which was just wealth re-appropriation. The other is the introduction of Eupha. Nothing about that felt good since it was essentially just white settlers telling others how to live their lives and forcing their moral compass on others. The game also seems to try to put all the extremes of modern political landscapes into this. You can tell it’s very much written by a centrist point of view.its such a super lib game it soured me badly. You gotta get enough votes to beat the bad guy!!
It really is. Now, don't get me wrong, the way they told the story was very good and interesting, but there are quite a few directions they could've taken that would've made it better.
