Also Subway bread is not classified as bread in Europe because way too much sugar. Just like in the US so much processed food and drinks contain corn syrup. Which is also banned in Europe.

Thank goodness the US has a great healthcare system right ?

This oft-repeated "fact" is straight up bullshit. Supermarket bread in Europe has more sugar than Subway bread. The article you linked points out that it is simply for the purposes of determining VAT.

And high fructose corn syrup is not and has never been banned in Europe.

If you're going to try to shit on the US get your basic fucking facts straight

Uuh no, at least not where i live, maybe those packaged sliced white breads but no one sane eat those as normal bread, that shit is gonna get paired with Nutella or other things

Supermarket bread in Europe has more sugar than Subway bread.

Does it? The cheap store brand white square bread in Holland had no added sugar at all. It has plenty of artificial stuff, but not sugar.

It's at least restricted and banned in UK. Plus many more chemicals that are allowed in the US and not in Europe. So don't preach US food safety to me.

Shitting in the US is easy in regards to food safety and science:

  • European Union (EU): The EU follows the Precautionary Principle. This means that if there is scientific uncertainty about an ingredient's safety, it can be banned or restricted until proven safe. This more cautious approach leads to stricter regulations on many additives.
  • United States (US): The US has a more reactive, proof-based system. Ingredients are typically allowed unless there is overwhelming evidence of harm.

This difference explains why Europe has restricted or banned many more chemicals in food and cosmetics than the US.

I know where I'll buy my food and it's not located in northern America.

You realize corn syrup is bad because it's cheap and overused to make food hyper palatable and not because it's intrinsically bad right? It's literally just as bad/good as cane sugar and the issue is over consumption.

concerns over the potential health risks associated with HFCS, including obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Just ignore the science as per usual. There is so much scientific research out there about how bad High Fructose Corn Syrup is, but it's like promoting a conspiracy theory. Anyway not my problem because I do not to live in the US.

Obesity, diabetes, and heart disease... Wow! Symptoms of over consuming sugar! https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9551185/ it's almost like HFCS is literally just a sugar, wow! I don't blame you for your ignorance, it's the natural state of being after all, but I do blame you for your persistence in peddling open misinformation.

You stay in your fantasy bubble and swallowing the sweet, sweet propaganda. I'm out.

That "fact" ignores that it's only not considered bread for tax purposes. In every other regard, it's still bread.
