You'd think they'd have at least bullet trains.
They keep emphasizing 'trains'. You gotta know your market. Emphasize the 'bullet'.
Yeah, we have all sorts of trains, at least for freight, but no “bullet”. How did that happen?
Technically there’s Acela - this morning I watched a video where someone used their gps to catch Acela hitting its top speed of 160mph. High speed rail! Technically. For a few minutes
Well, they have lots of bullets and, like, at least two trains.
You can thank the oil industry for that (well auto too). They don’t want any competition for intercity travel. Couple it with the freight train companies that don’t want to share the tracks, so you have to build new tracks. Then you end up with the NIMBYs who are like “I don’t want you going through my land, I may need it some day” and you end up with a stupidly high barrier to entry.
