Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

The Treaty of Fort Jackson (also known as the Treaty with the Creeks) was signed on this day in 1814 at Fort Jackson in Alabama. The treaty was agreed upon in the aftermath of the defeat of Red Stick (Upper Creek) resistance by U.S. forces at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
The treaty was the "largest single Indian cession of southern American land", according to historian Michael Rogin - around 23 million acres in Alabama and Georgia. The U.S. forces won with the battle with the help of allied Cherokee and Lower Creek forces friendly to the American side.
The terms of various treaties with the Creek nation would go on to be consistently violated by Americans colonizing the south.

Can I still be a leftist if I support a genocidal colonization project? And if I center the feelings of those that are committing and benefiting from the genocide?

I wonder why no other ethnic group that was a historical or current victim of genocide has anything that could even be mildly construed in bad faith as being racist against them be subjected to gestapo-level policing and enforcement, and why we don’t constantly have site-wide discussions about how to protect them and validate their feelings. Oh wait, I remember, it’s because most of this site are racist crackers who don’t consider nonwhites human.

It's funny how a lot of leftists defend zionism because jewish people apparently are always super duper progressive and leftist (and to give credit they usually can be unless you mention their rogue settler colony) as if that gives them a pass for genocide and a ethnostate, two ideologies incompatible with any principled leftist.
