I actually just have a hard time believing that the thing about the color red isn't a joke. I would say this as a joke and I go out of my way to make sure you know it's a joke. Blue is the color of gender reveals and he has plenty of that in his coloring
I almost wonder if they characterize him introverted and chill compared to her.
They also can't flip the background because it clashes with the rising rightward movement of the composition. They need him to be tall and centering so they can out something interesting there. They can't clash with her pulling a gun out.
