To be fair, that was also the general consensus when the games were actually new, seemed like right around Sonic Heroes a lot of people started having misgivings about the games. It took the ten-year-olds who played it coming of age for the consensus to shift, which makes sense. Been interesting to watch.
I should also note however that Sonic CD had two vocal themes, both of which slap, so y'know.
I honestly didn’t know that about CD. I didn’t know a single soul with the add-on, let alone the game. I only played it once a couple years ago. I genuinely didn't like it at all. I have forgotten most things about it aside from really not liking the time travel mechanic.
True, most people played it through the Win95 or Gamecube/PS2 rereleases.
