I just don't understand this view. I thought it was the best film I've ever seen.
I don't know if this is a problem across all of Andy Weir's stories, but the protagonist in The Martian and PHM were both generic nerdy single white dudes who I didn't really relate to that much. The Sci-Fi concepts are very good, but I wish they actually focused on that more rather than repeating the "fist my bump" joke 50 trillion times. In the words of Vaas from that Far Cry 3 trailer, "one time is funny, two times is fucking annoying, no?" The story also feels very "and everyone lived happily ever after" at several points, but that's probably more to do with my personal taste in stories.
