About
Archaeology or archeology[a] is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes.
Archaeology has various goals, which range from understanding culture history to reconstructing past lifeways to documenting and explaining changes in human societies through time.
The discipline involves surveying, excavation, and eventually analysis of data collected, to learn more about the past. In broad scope, archaeology relies on cross-disciplinary research. Read more...

I'll need to re-read that like 5x to absorb the full meaning, but yeah-- the whole concept of discrete divisional bands upon genetics, sorted in to species, genus, family was always sort of a Linnean convenience and conceit, for sure.
"Clades" of course does some heavy-lifting in a bunch of these cases, but it does seem like... um, overall hard definitions upon genetics and DNA distinctions can be sort of convenience-mechanisms meant for doofuses like me, and not really all that representational about best, appropriate science.
Hahaha, trying to keep a foot in both worlds, and likely failing hard. XD
