Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!

How voting works:

Vote the opposite of the norm.

If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.

Guidelines:

Tag your post, if possible (not required)

  • If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
  • If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].

Rules:

1. NO POLITICS

Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.

2. Be civil.

Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...

Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.

5. No trolling.

This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.

6. Defend your opinion

This is a bit of a mix of rules 4 and 5 to help foster higher quality posts. You are expected to defend your unpopular opinion in the post body. We don't expect a whole manifesto (please, no manifestos), but you should at least provide some details as to why you hold the position you do.

Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

The whole furry thing is creepy as hell. It's weird. Wanting to have sex with anthropomorphized animals is not a thing that should be normalized.

And it's even creepier when they add things like "kitten" or showing anthropomorphized animal kids.

And thank you to Unruffled [they/them] / Flatworm7591 @lemmy.dbzer0.com for this sane and reasonable response.

And thanks to recursive_recursion who seems to be an alt of Flatworm for continuing that sane and reasonable response. Note that in over 1,400 comments here I've never once said a single word against trans people. Not once.

It really bothers me when people lie about racism. So many people really do experience it so much in life, and lying using false racism accusations as a sword and shield to make other people look bad and make themselves look like the victim is demeaning to every real instance people suffer.

Hopefully one day this person realizes that lying about transphobia for the same reasons does the same thing.

It's completely normal to fantasize about having sex with members of your own species. Like all normal, healthy activities some people take it to extremes and those extremes make it something unhealthy.

Idk about that. Are you sure that isn't just something perverted humans do?

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world -2 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Yes. It's a facet of human psychology and one of the most important facets of evolutionary psychology.

It's so strange to see this weird internet subculture. People are very upset at the idea that I find the whole furry thing to be creepy. The internet is full of sexualized pictures of animals and it was one of the main reasons people bought those costumes when it started growing decades ago.

Somehow it's become normalized online to sexualize anthropomorphized animals, but to think humans having the basic attraction to other members of their species that leads to fantasizing and it the main reason we all exist is wrong and perverted.

If you think your opinion here is anything other than extremely popular, perhaps you should spend less time in online furry spaces? Unless you just happen to live on of the rare places where furries are relatively more represented (like Seattle has a furry bar and maybe there's an above-average representation around the areas that host some of the biggest fur-cons like Pittsburgh & Chicago?)

I think you'll find that there's a lot of people in the fediverse that are in those areas.

I know my opinion is unpopular here, that is why I posted it to this community. The loads of angry down votes seems to say it's not a very popular opinion here.

Ah yes because when I think of my partners I view them as animals not humans roleplaying /s

Well, enjoying porn of roughly human shaped animals and wanting people to dress up in full body animal costumes for sex doesn't scream that it's the person you're imagining fucking.

[–] Forester@pawb.social 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ah yes cause we exclusively have sex in those never nude or just tube socks. Ive never even seen a murr suit IRL and i've fucked over 100 other furs.

Good for you, you can pick up your trophy at the front desk.
