I do like GOG, but it's not an alternative, more an addendum. It is mostly for old games re-optimized/made playable for modern hardware. New games sometimes come out there, but not with any regularity.
There are new-ish titles ! But i agree that their main selling point is long conservation repacking. No DRM packs that can linger on drives or clouds forever and it should still work as long as the OS allows it.
